he has potential, but if he doesn't hit his straps next year at 25, he never will..
Pleasantly surprised by this. Good signs for the club that Weid wants to stay despite struggling for a game, I still believe he can be a gun but just needs some confidence. Hopefully by the time Brown/McDonald start regressing weid will be hitting his straps and ready to carry the forward line.
Also his re-signing definitely boosts the rooster factor of our list 🐓🐓🐓
🐓 for sure
We've got so many roosters we're practically cocksure.
Noice! Surprising, but good for depth.
Tbh I think this is a good call from him. Melb is a very young side that is already dominating. I'd be wanting to stick around for as long as I could
Was this not announced at the start of the week?
I'm sure I read somewhere that he signed a new deal already.
Rumoured but not official. Gold Coast and North were poking around, but decided to go with Chol and Colenan-Jones respectively
He was basically hoping North Melbourne or GC would trade for him, but didn't because of their other new deals. So went back with Melbourne.
Still think he has great potential, but I don't think it's gonna happen at the Dees.
I am very happy about this. Not many forwards of his size and agility that average a goal a game.
With Brown and TMac both 29 before the start of next season, having Weideman around is really good insurance and competition.
If Tmac is gone after 2022, Weid slots straight in.
I was actually thinking about him the other day… this is the best thing for him. He now gets two years to really prove his worth.
Best case scenario he soars and picks up a biiig contract in two years time. Worst case hell be in the same position he’s in now, only more freedom to move clubs.
Earlier I would’ve said he’s definitely gone, but after thinking about it, this was a must for him.
Very happy with this, honestly his ceiling is there, had a few 3 goal performances last year, was rightfully dropped this season for B. Brown after two poor performances in a row but dominates at Casey and in intra-club scratch matches. Just needs to work a bit harder on his consistency and contested work.
A nice surprise - was sure he'd be gone.
Great result for the Dees. He's still young and whilst he has not reached his potential yet, he has time to become the player Dees fans want him to be.
He's been close and is a beautiful kick, just needs to clunks those marking opportunities and could be a consistent addition to the senior side.
A big surprise this one. Not sure if it’s a great one but a surprise nonetheless.
Wow. Is there anyone else left that needs to be signed? I can't imagine players like Vandenberg, Jones and Jetta being on much coin. Where are we getting the salary cap space for all this?
Thank fuck
This is a surprise. Hopefully he finds his groove but I'm not convinced
