New Home - Nest Battery doorbell vs waiting for new wired in 2022

I recently purchased a home and was ready to purchase the Nest battery doorbells and hardwire them. Then recently the Nest Wired 2 got disclosed as coming out in 2022.

Would you wait for the wired 2 vs wiring the new battery model?

I'm impatient, so I've already bought and installed the new battery one and hardwired it. But if the 2022 wired looks like a big upgrade, I'll just give this one to family and get the new one.

Do you get 27/4 live video when it's wired?

No. But I have a home NVR system with plenty of cameras, so the doorbell is useful in other ways. Being notified of packages is great.

Honestly every one of the new Nest device built by Google is a downgrade from the previously great Nest devices with cheaper build / quality, lower specs hardware and horrible design decisions... They try to sell you the idea that some new specialized AI chip inside will make up for that and although cool it never holds true...

I don't have much expectations for that new wired doorbell, the current wired one is a great device so I would recommend that one but the truth is who knows what's the future of these old gen Nest devices.

Yea, and the new Indoor/Outdoor cams are what, less than half the cost of the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor? They should come out with a $500 version of the battery powered cams, amiright?

Build quality is essentially the same. Notifications are much faster and more accurate. The only thing that truly sucks is the Google Home app.

Anything powered by a battery will be a compromise relative to a dedicated wired version. Whether that be delays in capturing the start of an event, the inconvenience of charging the device or an absence of 24/7 recording. Go wired wherever you can.

I was planning to wire the new battery model. Hence it would be wired battery model vs the 2022 wired model coming out.

So the new nest doorbell battery, can also be wired. So if you wire it, you get the best of both worlds right? If power goes out it still works with battery recording locally for up to 4 hours.

Correct, and I planned to wire it. From what I read the new wired model 2022 looks to have better features, but who knows.
