Am I missing where I can set a single temp and have the “smart” stat decide if we need heat or cooling?

imgur.comSee the images. I can set the same temp in the comfort setting but as soon as I click save it ignores it and chooses its own seemingly random temperatures.
I just want to select Auto and a set temp then have the device decide if it needs to cool or heat the house to get that temp. It seems this is too radical an idea for ecobee…
The best part is if I do magically manage to get it to save the settings, when I apply them the app seems to think I’m dumb and changes it on the fly.

Your temps have to be farther apart or it would cause short cycling switching between heat and cooling therefore damaging your equipment. The app is doing it for you.
Thanks. You pointed me in the right direction. I’ve adjusted the minimum delta and can now set an auto config with only a couple degrees difference rather than 5.
