Still can’t decide between mbp and mba

Question

Hi, I’m a student and do development aswell

Looking for a MacBook and not sure what to get

It’ll either be the mba with 16gb of ram, and 1-2tb of storage Or a 16” mbp M1 pro with 32gb of ram and 1tb if storage

Not sure what’ll be best for me, can i get some advice Would love if it was portable and didn’t have to worry about charge + size and weight isn’t a big issue

What kind of development do you do? My MacBook Air is enough to smoothly run iOS simulator and compiles very fast

Swift, js, and the standard html and css for web

Also tend to run linux vms for improving my understanding doing pentest/redteam

Edit: to add, I’m experimenting with python aswell

Alright thanks, if you don’t mind me asking, should I alter anything with the mbp I said in the original post, or is the specs good for what I’ll need

Those specs should be fine. If you’re running VMs or docker or want to futureproof your laptop, 32gb is the right way to go

My base model MacBook Air can do all of this perfectly, zero complaints.

Can't comment about the rest.

Remember you buying a config which can't be upgraded so it should last for along time and satisfy you current and future needs.

I would buy max you can afford
