Redistricting Recap Episode 5: West Virginia
Previous episodes:
West Virginia doesn't allow splitting counties. Trump got a clean sweep of the counties in 2020 and 2016. There is no way for there to be a blue district. Still, there is something interesting.West Virginia lost a seat following the 2020 census, meaning two Republicans will have to run against each other. In the end, the most moderate (David McKinley) and most conservative (Alex Mooney) of West Virginia's delegation were paired together. The new district has more territory from McKinley's old district than Mooney's, making McKinley an early favorite. The real battleground is the primary on May 10th.
