Jar lids; is a syringe filter enough?
Hey peeps, I'm thinking about making some new jar lids, that I can shoot LC through to inoculate.
I was wondering if anybody with experience has used those little 0.22 micron syringe filters to provide gas exchange?
I've used them before on jars of LC, but I'm not sure if they provide enough gas exchange for grains.
Also welcoming suggestions for jar lids that I can inject thru and work well for grain spawn.

I would go with a sfd but a syringe filter will work.
That's what I mostly use now, but can't inject through them and I'd like to move towards a more streamlined process.
Just seems like they provide a lot more surface area that a syringe filter so I'm wary of suffocating the myc.
I've seen some people have issues with stalling with syringe filters so it may not be optimal. A good thing to learn is pouring lc. You can go with a syringe and shoot some lc onto your grain. I used to use ships but stopped because I had my sterile technique down so I don't need ships anymore. And the only inoculum you can use with ships is lc or spores which isn't optimal. When you get into agar and g2g (unless you already do) a ship doesn't do anything. So I recommend just removing the lid and shooting your lc on then closing it in a sab.
Wait, you dont intend to use a syrjnge filter as an injection port also? Im pretty sure the filter is not self healing am I wrong?
No I've got self healing injection ports for the injecting part.
Ok just had to ask. I could also imagine someone else reading this assume 'streamlined' yeah, well, it MADE for syringe right? Then put an 14 guage hole in it. I'm sure your probably smarter but thought, ya know. ✌🍄
Synthetic Filter Disk? Did I buy the right thing? 0.25 micron?
Yes that is ok.
