Oh, hi there; didn't see you! You've reached r/OCPoetry. This is a workshop site where you can share, read, and talk about eachother's poetry & etc. To post your own poems, you need to give feedback to 2 other writers. If you aren't trying to share, you're encouraged to give feedback, but aren't required. Try to be nice, questioning, and specific. If you can't do that - eat a cabbage and come back later. Try to give feedback to a writer without any feedback. Lastly, read our [feedback guide ](https://www.reddit.com/r/OCPoetry/wiki/feedbackcritiques), other writer's comments, or this author’s feedback links. If you still aren't sure whether your comments are useful ‘feedback’, or you have any other questions, send us a modmail!

Thankyou! And I can see that. I think that all poetry is beautiful. It's my favorite part about poetry : )

Your reply was very poetic. I enjoyed reading it. And thanks about the words flowing. Feel like I tend to struggle with creating a good flow

Wow, thankyou! Kind of worried that the mismatched interpretations of the strings are confusing to follow. I'm happy that you liked it!

Oh wowza. This is beautifully written. I like the different forms/interpretations of the strings especially the last one. Brings chills to my spine. Great job, OP!

That makes sense. I guess I'm used to trying to cut out the fat so I didn't think of that. Thankyou : )

Ah, okay! Then I’d just advise you to make the poem a bit longer- that’s a complex theme, and difficult to bring out in just three stanzas. Happy writing :D

Oh, that line was referring to constantly having the battle with string.

The "once" refers to the fact that although the strings (my problems) are irritating and I'm tripping over them (hence why I'm "suspended by strings, what I really meant was suspended like how you are if you take a picture of someone falling, but it was also a play on puppetry) and trying to tie them up so they're not in my way, it was once worse, and the rope was thick and rough to touch and when (my problems were) tied up, it's in a noose, so I was still fixing my problems in a way that was killing me. I guess I was hoping it had a punch in that sense, although now I see how that metaphor kind of falls apart because a thick piece of rope just laying around isn't going to harm anyone unless you somehow find a way to become tangled in it. Maybe I could make it clear how thick rope gets in the way or change the metaphor.

I also made every line in every stanza one more syllable longer than the same line in

Nice title :) I don't quite understand that last stanza, though it could simply be my sleep deprivation. "Assigned to the same things/throughout the whole of my life"... I originally interpreted this as the speaker referring to themselves, though it'd make more sense as the strings. But "once double knotted as a noose" seems a bit odd, just phrasing-wise.

I feel as though the "once" also makes this last line less of a 'gotcha' than it could be, because it doesn't say anything about a current emotional state; it's a somewhat offhanded remark about something that happened in your life before.

Aside from that, I think the meter gets janky at times. The third line of every stanza tends to have a few syllables too many, and the first and second ones don't always match up, either. The rhyming works, more or less, but it's not quite perfect - "shoes" ends in a hard "s", while "use" and "noose" end in a soft "s". The hard "s" is more difficult to rhyme with, but it still gives you plenty of

Around the loop,

through the bunny hole,

still tripping over my shoes.

.

Suspended by strings

that are bound to unwind;

trying to tuck them in is no use.

  .

Assigned to the same things

throughout the whole of my life,

once double knotted as a noose.
