Poems about being pregnant with a spouse preparing to transition

Birth and Rebirth

I am waiting for transitions

For new lives to begin, in more ways than one

A new life the way life always starts

A new life in the modern way,

in the eyes of society.

Both with doctors, legal documents,

New names embodied.

I'll still be a wife, but different

I'll be then a mother, brand new

I wait as in the calm before a hurricane that may or may not break land

Could turn my world upside down or pass by without tearing.

It's likely some trees will be uprooted

But maybe the storm will pass quietly,

The air I breathe transformed peacefully into something fresher

There is no calming meteorologist with perfect predictions.

New lives open doors and invite in the unknown

My love must grow to surround it

Rebirth #2

In a month I could be married to Aster, Wren, Avery or Evelyn.

It's not up to me,

And it's too early to tell anyone.

I've been entrusted with knowledge about the planning of a great transition,

But the decisions to be made belong solely to my beloved.

It will change our relationship,

It will change their life.

It affects the goals we set together

And the worries I have when I lay down at night.

I am honored with the knowledge of what's to come

while not actually knowing at all.

My duty is to provide stability for their chrysalis,

though I feel the ground I thought was solid shaking beneath me.

I will continue to love Aster, Wren, Avery or Evelyn.

It's up to me,

And I'll keep choosing them.
