Endwalker Difficulty

[Discussion]

Is it just me or did the difficulty for dungeons and especially the first trial jump up a notch from ShB? maybe it is because it's new and nobody knows what to do, but i struggled more than in previous expansions with my parties. It is my first launch tho

Don't get me wrong, i love the jump

Probably because I was doing the dungeons with trust but I find them to be easier than the ShB ones lol.

Same here.

It also helps that I ran the dungeons in full Augmented Cryptlurker and relic weapon, so all ilvl 530 plus 535 weapon slots.

Being overgeared plus having the Trust NPCs execute mechanics flawlessly helped a ton, lol. Literally found the 81 and 83 dungeons easier than Holminster.

The Trust NPCs definitely helped me with mechanics because when you're playing alone it's easy to notice when all 3 of your party members suddenly make a beeline for a certain part of the arena. Like the magnet mechanics just make perfect sense watching others do it, plus it helped confirm how the nails work on the 83 boss, which definitely confused me at first.

Yeah, agree that trusts make it really easy to learn the mechanics on your first run.

As for the dungeons themselves, I still don't feel like they're harder than the previous ones. Each of them has like one unique mechanics that is repeated and slightly built-on over the fight, which will catch people offguard when they do it for the first time, but aren't that hard execution-wise when people understand what it does.

I’m playing new Summoner and have noticed that the DPS is currently out of control. That being said, yes, first dungeon was nothing compared to my first run of holminster.

Don’t feel anymore or less difficult to me. In fact I’d say the first trial in particular was comparatively easier, though still plenty fun

i just feel the fight takes so much longer in the first trial. maybe we did no dmg we could almost fit in 2 lb3

That’s how it tends to go early on. People who are…less skilled, shall we say, who tend to die a lot, people who put more focus into mechanics of a fight they’re unfamiliar with than their own rotation, not to mention a lack of any stat scaling advantage, because everyone is on level on their first time through

If you think the 83 trial felt long, you should’ve seen Susano in 4.0, or Ravana in 3.0. Hell, you should’ve seen the original primal trio in 2.0. Can you imagine a time where Ifrit was the sub-killer?

I've done the first 4 dungeons via trust, and they've felt significantly easier than the ShB dungeons (which I also did via trust the first time). However, some of that - possibly all - is due to the fact that I've learned how to read basic mechanics, and there doesn't seem to be many surprises.

The first trial I found harder than ShB trials, but I could have just been overwhelmed, I dunno.

Players needing to stare at their hotbars more adjusting for new skills and layouts maybe?

Just got through the first dungeon as AST and to me I felt like I flailed around more part bc my usual rhythm got thrown off, part bc trash mobs are hitting spooky hard and my emergency heal seems half as strong as I expected it to be.

Still cleared it blind though, only one tank death+wipe on a mob causing a death spiral.

The last 2 MSQ trials are kinda hard, it felt like extreme prog. But with gear it will trivialize.

Movement definitely felt tighter to me, having just done the first dungeon. I remember when I first did the first dungeon of Shadowbringers, and it had maybe a few things going on, but you had time to digest everything and it didn't feel quite so... Visually cluttered, and very tight.

A lot of the movement honestly felt tighter to me than a lot of the ShB extremes, in fact. Or maybe it was some visual overload, I do not know, but either way... I was not fond of it.

Yes, a lot of things is harder in EW. Personally I'm not a big fan of the usage of insta kill mechanics in normal modes / msq / side quests.

Give it a week or two. Once Pandaemonium comes out, more people will have leveled to 90 and run the content so it should be fairly quick much of the time.

To be fair, shb was a jump from sb as well. Sb dungeons were quite the breeze and the trial as well until Shinryu came and slap everyone’s cheeks.

To be fair, aoe has always been everyone’s problem.

I never understood the scaling on that dungeon, the armor in there has like 30% more of the Defense stat than Shisui gear so you get tanks in lv60-63 gear doing double pulls and getting absolutely beat down. Sobering experience until you outgear it (or blame the healer)

Doma castle slapped tanks hard as well.

Yeah that first pull on Doma castle his like a truck. After that it's typically fine but catches people of guard right off of the bat

Things will be difficult when new. Unless you did ShB at launch, you likely got paired with folks who had a good hold on mechanics. We wiped a couple times on first trial mostly coz 7/8 were first timers and were learning. Still managed to do with only 2 wipes and all alive for final 10%.

..... our first pull we all got knocked off the platform.

I think they’ve gotten a little easier. Or tanks have just gotten a little beefier. Probably a mix of the two.

The first trial, whilst grand, was a little disappointing difficulty-wise. Very easy tells and very little outgoing damage. I was hoping for more considering, well, who it was. Felt very Night King from Game of Thrones. Excited for extreme, however.

Final boss is the only thing that has become harder outside tht the other 2 in each dungeon follows the shb timing mech wise

HelpfulQuail276•

I die sometimes on bosses. But that is due to new mechanics I’ve not seen before. Like the ‘nail’ square thing on the second dungeon final boss. I didn’t know what it was and got hit by it. Then the stack and run thing happened and I died.

Once I learned how it worked I didn’t get hit by it.

Overall it isn’t too difficult which is good.

Not got to the trial yet.

I did notice that it gotten slightly more difficult due to new and weird mechanics that we aren't used to, but we will probably get used to it as time passes by (it was probably a similar case with the past expansions too).

So far I am not a huge fan of the story but the EW dungeons and the first trial >!Zodiark!< was definitely fun for me and the expansion might win the most fun fights for me, I hope the rest are also similar.

In zone 4 pay attention to what purple hair guy says to understand alot. Its one line and if you hear it alot of stuff makes sense

Tower of Zot was more annoying than difficult
