Talos Principle is great. It's using the Serious Sam engine, which is really nice!

Playing it reminded me of Portal 2 - the levels where you solve things with lasers and switches. The levels are kinda free-form, where if you're stuck on one puzzle, you can switch to another puzzle and come back.

I also recall I cheese'd some puzzles. And also watched some youtube videos on how to solve some more confusing ones.

A great puzzle game in that it makes you feel smart more than it makes you feel dumb, IMO. I also remember liking the story, which is delivered through voiceover and computer terminals and is surprisingly deep in its themes.

I feel like this is one of those games where if you're into the genre you probably already played it but hey, if you are just getting into puzzle games or you just happened to have played Portal and loved it, definitely check this out.

Agree with this. This is one of those "game of the decade" type games to me. But also kindof like if you like this kind of game you've probably already heard of and played it long ago.

The DLC is also on sale but same price on Steam ($2.99):

Is the DLC worth it?

I bought the main game yesterday. Bit worried it'll go free on Epic for the winter giveaways or something like that so I haven't redeemed it yet just in case (only $4 but still).

Edit: Oops, forgot the "$" in the title price. I'll remember that next time.

Even if you complete the game with ease, the DLC will be very difficult for you. It was made got the hardcore puzzle game fans.

I disagree. The level of difficulty of the DLC is comparable to the few puzzles at the end of the original game. The star puzzles are very nasty however in the DLC, but those are optional.

Talos Principle is one of my favorite games. I thought the DLC expansion was even better than the base game however it ramps up the difficulty quite a bit. Definitely recommend it.

It's a great game and well worth the $4. I don't own the DLC but I suspect the same is true. These are also relatively common sale prices, so it's not like you need to decide immediately.

Every game will likely be cheaper/free at some point in the future. There is no specific reason to think that Epic will give it away (again) in the near future. Worrying over $4 or $7 is over-the-top min-maxing of video game sales. If that is too much to risk, then - I know this sounds harsh - you might as well only play free games.

Oh, I don't disagree about worrying over $4. Was more just mentioning it for anyone one the fence that was worried. Nuuvem has some kind of refund policy as long as you don't activate to view the redemption key.

Sounds good on the DLC. I'm going to hold off for now!

DLC is on par with the hardest puzzles and meta puzzles of the base game or harder.

thought it was very good and added to the story too. worth it, but I already thought this was one of the best games ever.

DLC is good, but is harder. Most of the DLC I encountered was doable - some really good puzzles, and I was making good progress but couldn't finish it. I got stumped for several consecutive sessions trying to solve a puzzle called "the crater" and eventually never came back after the string of failures. Up to that point I was doing well, but that puzzle just stone-walled me. I accepted that that level beat me and just had to walk away and be ok with it.

If you have been getting the free EGS games from the start of their site, then you probably already have this.

Really enjoyed but had to stop cause it was giving me motion sickness.

This game is pretty cool in VR too

Vandrewver•

Just an FYI for anyone with motion sickness issues this game is one of the worst for me, even non-vr gives me massive headaches, same as Serious Sam. Incredible game though

7
jimeowan•

It's literally the only video game to have ever given me motion sickness. So strange... I couldn't finish the game because of it.

Does it also happen when you increase Field of View?

Vandrewver•

Yes, unfortunately

This is a steal at this price, truly a gem among puzzle games.

this game is good but too short for my taste and definitely needs to have steam workshop because it has zero replayability.
