Just finished Aranyak on Netflix

SpoilerTV & Web Series

I normally don't like crime dramas at all, but my dad does so we were watching it together. it started off as a very strong show, I was really invested in both Kasturi and Angad

then the last episode was such a heinous shitshow, I hated it. the reveal of the Nartendua being just some random Servant was the most disappointing thing it turned me off of the whole episode

I think they needed like 2 more episodes instead of just shoving every reveal into the very end, but the Nartendua reveal was actively stupid imo

Also, I was waiting for the whole show for someone to reprimand Kasturi for her overt violence and abuse of people in custody, but it never happened. they glorify her beating up people with sticks, and it's just so disgusting to watch police violence being treated as a good thing.

what'd you guys think of the show? Who would you have made the Nartendua instead?

I was so disappointed with the grand reveal. I wanted the Nartendua to atleast be her own husband whom she thought nothing off. Or even that shopkeeper could have worked for me. And there's no motivation to this servant to do this. Complete mockery of buildup. Ruined the series for me

oh my goodness we're on the same level!

I thought the Nartendua should've been her husband, too. and it would've tied in way better with the plot, and made it a very clean ending for the father in law, as well

I was thinking that her husband could've felt jilted 20 years ago because his own father preferred Kasturi, and he was rejected from the police. so he created a crime that would torture his father as a punishment

But, yeah, I think the last episode utterly destroyed all the good work they had been doing in the episodes before that

AND nobody explained where the servant even got a custom gucci brand tendua claw glove with red-painted nails!

Bang on - Kasturi's husband being the killer/Nar-tendua would've been great. Goes well with the plot of him always feeling ignored and overshadowed by his father and wife. (Minor detail that Kasturi got into the police force through sports quota was a nice touch)

I was willing to bet that the father-in-law was somehow linked to the killer (either the past killer or the copycat present killer). Nice red herring casting Ashutosh Rana in such a minor inconsequential role

Your husband spin off story makes a lot of sense and I wish that had happened, but don't you think that would be too obvious?

There are so many shows where the villain is someone close to there protagonist that most people can kinda just guess.

that's fair, but honestly I don't usually watch these kinds of shows so I can't really speak to what's a clichè or not

i just can't think of anyone else who could be the Nartendua that is narratively rewarding still. I guess the father in law?

In the middle of watching I thought it could be interesting if either the DC or the Minister Madam had done it, and was covering it up. If the Minister did it, it'd be a nice little story with her and her son, where both are violent criminals

Really meant it. Especially the part of tormenting his father. Mail it to the writers.....πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

You spoke my words. I was so disappointed. And you are so right about Kasturi beating violent, someone had to reprimand her. I predicted that Gagan was the rapist, and I was right about that. But that servant being Nartendua was just random. I was expecting that Gagan's father the DC would've killed Aimee so that he could save his son, but I was wrong.

lmao I'd still recommend the first 7 episodes because they're genuinely good, but the end is just not up to par

as bollywood tends to be, honestly

Why waste time on something with a not so satisfying ending.

They had amazing cast and a good story back drop. But the story telling and sequencing was so poor. They ruined what could have been an amazing super natural thriller.

The story was really good and the multiple parallel threads entangling in the events of the night and the days that followed was really well done without feeling contrived.

Netflix doesn’t care about good storytelling. Just the hype of the first few episodes to get more subscribers and then they lose interest.
