Many languages have codified rules for formal and informal speak, with specific ways to refer to the formal/informal "you" and "I" especially
but i've noticed that, more recent usage of 'formal' speak has declined. an example is how many younger Spanish speakers only use the informal tu compared to the formal usted. Similarly, in major cities Hindi speakers are preferring to use the informal tum and main compared to the formal aap or hum. English used to have an informal you with specific grammar rules, thou, but it has since become archaic and people prefer the formal you
the only case of english becoming more casual i can think of is how it has also dropped the royal we,
A large part of any wedding-related discussion is how do guests, usually women, carefully choose their outfits so as to not "outshine" the bride. but I honestly never understood why the onus is entirely on the guests to stay vigilant and not on the bride to make sure that her dress is the most eyecatching one, if that's something she wants in her dress. instead of expecting every single guest to tone it down, she should amp up her own dress.
This includes wearing the colour white, but also wearing bright colours like red, wearing daring/unique cuts of dresses, having a poofy skirt, having a lot of bling, etc.
and IF the bride is someone who enjoys simple, quiet clothing, then shouldn't s
I was looking at the movies offered by my theatre and I saw this movie. it's apparently about a group of adivasi kids in Odisha who start playing rugby and make it to the world cup
Looks interesting, but I've literally heard nothing about it
hi! i’m gonna be in Delhi for most of summer, and i’m kinda worried that my current wardrobe is gonna stick out in a bad way when i get there lol
i usually wear crop tops, lower rise pants, bell bottoms, wide legs, and short and mini skirts/shorts in summer, and usually in pretty bright colours or patterns.
is showing the stomach okay in delhi? how short is too short for shorts? how bright is too bright for colours?
basically livetweeting but on reddit
- I would've enjoyed it if Madhuri's song had a higher-pitched voice, as a callback to her own famous songs when she was at the top. the whole angle of 'this is the top starlet" would've worked better if they dipped into some nostalgia factor it would've fit better. as it stands it's kinda just like an actress dancing to Sunidi Chauhan
- they should take notes from Deepika's entrance/presentation in OSO. Deepika was an unknown, but her character seemed like a big deal because she was modeled off of existing stars. Her looks, roles, and mannerisms come from Hema malini, so some of that build up was missing in Fame Game. I feel like I'm being told
sorry for the stupid question, but i’m so so lost and low key afraid of my coach so can anyone please tell me how to write 2AC affirmative blocks?
basically just all the parts, what they mean, and do i have to have a card for every argument?
I watched it in america, where it’s one of the few movies showing in my area
and i have to say, this was a thoroughly entertaining and fun movie. i literally had a smile the whole time, i don’t remember any actively shitty scenes
the worst thing in the movie is the cheesy scenes that are honestly par for the course in all biopics, so i got over it. especially since the movie doesn’t take itself too seriously and has a great sense of humor, so the cheesy drama isn’t overwhelming
i thought it would be just a biopic on Kapil Dev, but it was really about the whole team and the world cup itself. the team is a group of genuinely fun characters and i found myself really liking every one of th
I normally don't like crime dramas at all, but my dad does so we were watching it together. it started off as a very strong show, I was really invested in both Kasturi and Angad
then the last episode was such a heinous shitshow, I hated it. the reveal of the Nartendua being just some random Servant was the most disappointing thing it turned me off of the whole episode
I think they needed like 2 more episodes instead of just shoving every reveal into the very end, but the Nartendua reveal was actively stupid imo
Also, I was waiting for the whole show for someone to reprimand Kasturi for her overt violence and abuse of people in custody, but it never happened. they glorify her beating
i’m living in a room with two other girls, and we usually stay out of each other’s way. both roommates are nice enough and generally cleanly, except for one roommate’s bathroom hair situation
every day after she showers there’s a huge clump of hair in the drain. i’ve been cleaning it up so far, because it’s usually not a huge deal
but a couple days ago there was a HUGE pile in the drain, AND a pile next to the drain on the floor, AND a pile of wet hair on the floor next to the sink
the other roommate doesn’t have this problem, we spent like two weeks without the first roommate and there were no hair issues
all three of us have long, thick hair so i understand that it falls out, but i
what storylines, scenes, characters, or other random stuff do you hope they'll include in Season 3?
my list is probably:
- Some focus or development for the other girls! i know we follow Erin's perspective, but I'd like to see episodes like the newspaper one where the main plot is wrapped around one of the girls
- I'd especially wanna see stuff like maybe one of James' English friends/his stepdad comes for a visit, some focus on Michelle beyond being a party girl, literally anything with Orla where she's not just off-beat comments to the side of everything, etc.
- Kinda related, but i'd also wanna see another big fight in the group over something dumb. Michelle and Erin finally come t
