S9ep1 Any other Brits find the London scenes hilarious?
The idea that Elizabeth would be frowned upon for not wearing a black dress as she's in mourning, the description of the patient's dinner and his couple of pints and the nurses still wearing the little white hats. Its so ridiculous I don't know how Alex Kingston kept a straight face!

Yeah, that never sat right with me. I know it's been 20 years, but I think it was ridiculous even then. Also the way they made fun of her for describing a patient as male rather than a man...it'snot at all unusual, docs are aware of the Americanisms, and even from an old school consultant it would barely raise an eyebrow.
I once even triangulated where the scenes were filmed in which Elizabeth was standing on the roof of the hospital with her father. It's now the roof of a Tesco. Understandable that they couldn't film in a real hospital but it's hilarious that they apparently just had to have the tower & tower bridge in the background.
Yeah I also thought it was weird how they had Elizabeth adopt so many Americanisms in a way that didn’t feel like normal acclimatisation. I can’t remember exact examples now, but so many times I thought, “Hmm no an English person would never say that.” And was surprised that Alex Kingston didn’t flag it during filming haha
