[P4V4] Question about Apprentice Knights
It’s been mentioned a number of times that apprentice guard knights are only allowed to be on guard duty within the Noble’s Quarter. I assume this is because they’re still learning how to be guards properly, but either way this makes sense.
In Part 4 Volume 4, Judithe requests leave from Rozemyne in order to gather ingredients, which Rozemyne allows, yet she still seems to indicate that Judithe, as an apprentice, is not allowed to leave the Noble’s Quarter.
Judithe lives in the knight dorms, and it makes sense that she would not be allowed to serve as a guard outside the Noble’s Quarter, but is it really true that she is not allowed to leave at all, even when off duty? That doesn’t seem to make much sense to me so maybe I’m missing something.

It really isn't that odd that children aren't allowed to go somewhere without having the permission of their guardians. For knights they can probably only hunt in some areas for whatever reasons. Some I could think of is, that only giebe's knights and their citizens/commoners can hunt in their territory, this is clearly shown in the POV chapter in p4v4. In the central area that would mean the only place the Archduke allows nobles to hunt is the noble forest and it probably get more attention to keep younger apprentice safer than a random forest in the central area that might have a beast that are too dangerous to attack solo. Like when they went the the noble forest and ran into a Grun they had to disband and get the adult knights there since they consider it to dangerous for apprentice. Realistically, a group of apprentice was in that forest they might have all died in that fight.
To add on, Sylvester mentioned the noble forest serves a similar purpose to the commoner one: it is a relatively safe place for people to gather materials if you're too poor or unable to get certain materials otherwise (think Lutz or Judith), with occasional issues like stretching trees or vicious animals that could still really hurt.
One should note they both have rules too, although the commoner ones are unspoken according to Leon's side story.
Depends on the apprentices. We're told at the same time that they dealt with one at the interduchy tournament at the academy. But they were acting as guards at the time, which means that they shouldn't fight if they can avoid it since it leads to unnecessary risk for their charge.
Yeah, but in the tournament they were a group of knights against one grun. If they went for gathering on their own, it would become a 1v1 fight, or potentially a 1man vs multiple gruns. That would be seriously dangerous...
We don't really have any baseline for how strong certain feybeasts are. Just character reactions. Yes it's unlikely that a first year layknight could beat one, but what about a 7th year layknight? Or first year archknight? We don't really know
Royal Academy is only 6 years. Unless you meant by that sentence a layknight who has graduated from RA?
the point is that not only they use the forest.
