Achievements Without Ironman?

Question

Can it be done somehow??

I’m new to the game so I want to try weird stuff in order to learn, but not at the expense of throwing away a 20-30 hour game because I don’t understand a mechanism yet.

But I’m organically doing some of these achievements as I play and want to be able to earn them.

EDIT

Thank you all for the info and feedback. Generally it seems the course is to practice / learn without Ironman, missing achievements, and then switching to Ironman in the future when I know the game better.

Without Ironman you are able to Cheat

Therefore achievements are disabled 🤷

Mods disable achievements too (expect for a few graphic Mods)

Cheat as in save-scum or cheat as in console command?

I understand why someone might want to lock this stuff down. I’m asking if there’s a way around it and it appears not.

Console command.

And no, there is no way around needing Ironman to get achievements.

As Well as

Edit* even If you would be sincer.. and Not abuse it

Keeps achievement hunters from getting an easy win 🤷‍♂️

Is that worth all the effort? It’s single player. Let people play the game.

I don't think it takes much effort.

Some people are spiteful towards achievement hunters, and if they're designing a game well good luck.

Since the game is fully playable without achievements PDX probably doesn't care if a small section of their playerbase isnt happy about it

You can still do ironman, but have saves "saved" in a different location. You just need to go into your save folder and move the saves to a backup location.

That's the best I got for you.

That is a big help, thank you!

If you forcibly quit out of Stellaris (task manager) you can also force yourself back to the last auto save. It’s a savescum tactic that often works well in wars (should I enter this battle or not, etc).

Fantastic, thanks!

Lol... I think I'm at like 2k hours of Stellaris... 0 achievements so far...

I just don't think it's worth it

I played a single game without iron man. Total snoozefest, there is a certain thrill in knowing what happens and what you do is final. Makes your decisions matter, instead of just doing something blindly, realizing it doesn’t work and then reloading

If you've played the game enough to understand it, you should give an ironman run a try and commit to seeing how it all plays out. Not for the achievements, it's just a different experience when all of your choices have to be weighed with finality

I'm new to this game and turned Ironman on by accident to learn it. As frustrating as it is to make Newby mistakes and start a new save I don't think I'll ever turn it off.

The final challenge is a no-pause multiplayer game

Lol... I'm way too much of a mod user/abuser to limit myself to only Ironman... in like any game

I agree Ironman isn’t worth the pain, but I do want achievements. It’s so strange to play that long and not get anything.

It‘s your decision, which type of game you want. For a big part of this sub, the game is about emergent storytelling in a vast space world (which is really better with ironman on). The other side would be spreadsheet meta analysis powergaming. You‘ll get 20 something achievements in your first run anyways, just pause a few times and open the wiki. Have fun!

Idk about this... I like storytelling and role-playing sometimes... but I always do it while using mods so... never try ironman...

Mostly I just set a few Long-terme goals, maybe make sone empire specific mindsets... the rest tho is all about micromanaging every thing in existence tho lol

Not possible by Euclidean mathematics

Achievements are only achievable in Ironman, that being said theres tons of low level ones so any game you play will gain you some at the point. Choose a harder one to aim for and just use the run as practice, plus some achievements are heavily reliant on luck which means itll require multiple playthroughs to get.

Or just play on the easiest difficulty, low tech cost, dog-shit spec enemy empires, etc.

You can stack the card in your favor pretty easy

Good point, ironman isn't necessarily hard; it just prevents console commands and trivialising decisions and mistakes with reloading. Otherwise, you're free to make it as easy as you want in the new game options.
