[Spoilers Extended] On suggesting Brandon Sanderson finishes ASOIAF.

First off, I'm fully aware that not everyone sees every post or comment. I'm not having a go at people who make these comments, but I do see them come up over and over again in this sub.

People keep suggesting that Brandon Sanderson would be the right person to finish ASOIAF if George ever gave up or couldn't finish it for whatever reason. First and foremost, Brandon has straight up, personally said, that he'd never want to write this series.

The main reason being, he doesn't even like ASOIAF. He read the first book and found it too brutal and miserable. So he stopped there and didn't read any of the remaining books. Brandon has stated this on reddit personally more than once.

Secondly, George and Brandon are too wildly different writers, with completely different writing styles. Brandon doesn't really write about sex or use swear words, for example. Brandon would not be a good fit for ASOIAF and he knows it. The difference in writing would be so jarring, it just wouldn't be the same story anymore. Brandon's writing is often more colourful and vibrant than George's.

Brandon has also cited religious reasons for not writing some of the sort of content that George writes about.

I know people like to joke that Brandon should finish it because he's a quick writer, but I guarantee everyone would be regretting it if he did.
