Where is Lio Rush?

Everyone’s asking. No one seems to know. He’s disappeared from Dante Martin’s storyline.

Has he:

• Retired?

No, he’s still working PWG and NJPW strong.

• Not being booked with AEW?

Possibly. After Swolegate, Lio Rush publicly asked Tony Khan to apologize. Since then, he has not appeared on any AEW show, has removed all mentions of AEW from his socials, and does not promote AEW shows like Dynamite or Rampage, like signed and even unsigned talent do.

• Focusing on his music?

Possibly taking a leaf out of Marko Stunt’s book - who’s trying for The Voice right now - Lio has been working on his own rap career. His newfound absence from AEW could explain this newfound focus.

Comment any reasons/explanations/other relevant info you guys have! This seems to be puzzling a lot of people who watch AEW.

After the Swole thing, Lio did post that he had had a good talk with TK, so unless something ELSE happened we're unaware of, I feel like he's focusing on his music recently? But I would definitely like to at least know where the hell he is.

Tbf he retired because of an injury he suffered not enabling him to lift his child. A legitimate fear. It's not like he just up and retired for no good reason.

I mean Dante broke out with Matt Sydal in that 6 man match, and Lio took Dante away from Matt. This makes sense that Dante reunites with Matt

Taz doesn’t even really promo for them anymore. It’s just a framework for a group really. Which is good because DAHBY SCHMUCK was getting old and Hobbs and Starks can both handle the mic

Agreed. I was just thinking about ‘we make assassins’. Could be a cool angle for Lio.

Plus just the way Dante is going out of his way to make all of these other friends. Lio making him regret leaving him could be a fun angle. Maybe he doesn’t need team Taz for that though.

He was on the match graphic for the Martin v Hobbs match which was just last week. So I don't see it as a problem with TK, he wouldn't have been advertised. Covid maybe?

He worked NJPW so not that. I think they may have decided to just drop the reunion with Dante and he’ll pop back up as a heel or just elsewhere on the card

One big weird thing is, as far as I can remember, he hasnt even been mentioned during Dante segments/matches, despite them talking about his issues with Team Taz.

Lio constantly gets in his own way and this is a repeated pattern with him. he gives me the impression of a petulant entitled child. I was not excited about his signing but intrigued to see where it went and…here we are.

The fact that Jay lethal is suddenly helping Dante should tell you all you need to know. Lio is an outspoken idiot, he'll never be taken seriously because if the slightest thing irks him then he'll be ranting about it on twitter faster than you can say, "Karen of the Hour"

I hope he isn’t really being fucked over for the Swole thing. He probably reacted a bit poorly but it seemed like him and Tony worked things out shortly afterwards and I’d hate to see Lio leave

You are getting downvoted like mad, but I agree with you.

I like Lio, I really do. But it has become a pattern that he is given a big chance, he rums his mouth and has an attitude outside the business, and then is removed from tv. Then he announces his retirement.

The guy is amazing talented on the mic and in the ring but he is still way too immature to be put on TV for any reason. He continues to bite the hand that feeds him and makes very aggressive and far too fast snap judgements about things that have blown up on him over and over.

He either needs to get professional help(whether this is a mental health professional, a life coach, a mentor, or whatever) or he needs to actually retire like he said he was multiple times now.

I was surprised when AEW picked him up and was hoping that WWE was the problem for him...but this makes it even more clear that it is his own issues.

You can't go online and tell your boss what to do like a petulant child. Anyone else would be fired the same day for that behavior. I dont know why people expect AEW to be different in that regard and yet I wouldn't be shocked if he eventually finds his way back on tv again.

I figured he was just busy with other things but AEW seems to have just written him off. Dante didn’t even say his name when he thanked lee and sydal for always having his back, something is up.

Considering he worked NJPW last weekend in Seattle and is working GCW in NY this weekend, it’s pretty obvious something is up and he’s taking a break from AEW.

It’s obvious and fine. Hope he comes back when he’s ready.

Lio fucked around and found out. He's a legitimate loose cannon, who can't help but sabotage himself when he has a good thing going. He's just not a smart guy.
