Honestly? Fiddler knocking him flat in DoD. Love the guy but he seriously had that coming.
Edit to quote because it's totally worth it:
Never liked him. Need him, count on him, pray for him, love him, aye. But like him? Not a chance. Goatsticker, dollmaker, souleater. Probably Soletaken or D’ivers, too, if I’m any judge of things.
Whiskeyjack, did you hear the sound it made hitting his head? This old helm of mine? Did it stir the dead all around you? Did you all sit up, rush to the Gate? You looking in on us right now, Sarge? Hey, all you Bridgeburners. How’d I do?
I swear Kalam does the exact same in TCG, one of my fav moments of the entire series
I might have to read kharkanas just because there might be answers about quick Ben being soletaken
Is one of his souls in that trilogy?!
we are pretty sure ya.

Quick Ben at the Spar of Andii is probably my favorite scene with him. The thing with Quick Ben is that he's always more than he appears, and him talking down to Mother Dark is the ultimate example of that.
To borrow Charlie Brown for a moment: The reader is Charlie Brown, Erikson is Lucy, Quick Ben is the football, and the scene at the Spar of Andii is Erikson pulling the football away at the last second. You're laying in the dirt, and Erikson is laughing at you for thinking you knew anything.
Yeah, seriously. This is the scene I just can't figure out and the mystery that interests me the most...so many questions that will probably never get answers!
In what book does that happen?
I believe it’s TCG.
Dropping that Forkrul Assail down a Kallor Hole and tossing a Flamer down after him, "compliments of the sappers".
The two man game of Kalam and Quick is unparalleled in fantasy.
When he tags those Necromancers. But the Battle of Coral was Quick as a High mage and it was pretty badass. Or or or, when he pissed off Shadow Throne, any of the times...
When he nukes that phalanx of Nah'Ruk at the end of Dust of Dreams. Serc into their lungs, Telas to ignite it - boom.
That line gave me goosebumps... "and then he set the air on fire."
Just re-read that last night. It’s just pitch perfect. He fully expects to die and will take as many with him as he can.
Those pebbles - them Dragons. Boom.
“And I ain’t Tayschrenn and this ain’t Pale…” and then blows the fuck out of a bunch of Nah’ruk.
Such a great callback to the first book.
When they are crossing the sea after fleeing from Malaz Island and the empire - they encounter the Emperor in Gold’s legions looking for champions which are immediately hostile to a giant force. Their mages start a ritual that is Hold magic - and also shot through with Chaos from Kaminsod. He starts weaving an illusion of the same magic so intense that it forces them to quit or (in their eyes) participate in a nuclear stand-off and test the theory of Mutually Assured Destruction. After everyone is in awe he whipped out Hold magic and that it was so powerful and then he drops the bomb that it was all an illusion (on his part, I don’t recall if the Eres’al solidified it so it could do some damage or just helped him with casting the illusion part).
Yes, I think it started as an illusion but that Eres’al helped him via Bottle.
Quick Ben vs. Bauchelain. I had to stop reading and immediately share that scene with my partner, it was so cool.
It might be recency bias, but I'm halfway through DoD on a reread and there's an amazing scene before they leave Letheras where him and Tavore have a snapping back-and-forth between the motivations of the gods and the position of the Bonehunters. Both Tavore and Quick hold their cards very tight to their chest but suddenly they both open up in mutually acknowledged intelligence, and we get to see both of their understanding in full force.
Keneb's quote when he interrupts them says it all (he's basically the stand-in for the reader here):
'Wait!' barked Keneb. 'Wait—wait! You're leaving me behind, both of you! Adjunct, are you saying that justice is our enemy? Making us what, the champions of injustice? How can justice be an enemy—how can you expect to wage war against it? How can a simple soldier cut down an idea?' His chair rocked back as he suddenly rose. 'Have you lost your
minds? I don't understand—''Sit down, Fist!'
The Malazans have a Ceda, and for all the Edur expected from this day, in their arrogance, these Malazans were not afraid
When he set the air on fire against the K’chain Naruk. Even the air in their lungs
And also Bauchalian moment. Pure bad assery
When he first met the Crippled God.
"But Bauchelain... I did."
Or, to Kallor, "Easier still to dig a hole."
"But Bauchelain... I did."
First one I thought of! What's the context of the kallor one? I don't remember that.
Same book.
Kallor is snarking towards QB. QB creates a hole in the ground and drops Kallor into it. Then hurries off before he can climb out.
I don't remember that at all... Bah! Curse this siv memory of mine! I'll just have to read the series again! ;-)
"But Bauchelain I did" is hands down one of my favorite moments. I think it really sums up his character well
