Flashing with QMK Toolbox stopped making changes to keyboard layout
I made a new layout (see here: my qmk_firmware fork) for my Iris, compiled it in WSL and flashed with QMK Toolbox several times, for several iterations of the layout.
At some point, flashing stopped making any difference. I see the regular success logs in the Toolbox (see below), but the previously flashed layout remains operative.
I also tried flashing the default 'via' Iris layout for comparison, but I'm still stuck with an older iteration of my custom layout.

I'm fairly new to using QMK directly, mostly used Via until now, so the layout code definitely has issues, but I've had several iterations working OK so far, so I don't think the issue is in my code.
I'd appreciate any assistance!

I experienced this recently too. I tried a bunch of things, so I don't exactly remember what fixed it. But there is a command in QMK to clean up the build directory. Try that.
Edit: Also, I'm not sure if it was related, but I had an older json copy of my keymap alongside a newer c copy. It was after I removed the json version that it started compiling the c one. I'm not familiar with WSL though either.
Thanks for the reply!
Until this post I only knew about
make git-submodule && make clean, and it didn't do the trick for my issue.I don't know if there's an actual difference, but looking it up following your answer, I found
qmk cleanwhich solved the issue.Thanks!!
