Anyone else’s mother go full blown “Queen of England accent” on the house phone back in the day?
Just came up in a bit of a slagging match today but it was hilarious now that I think of it.

"Helllloooo" my nanny in her strange posh phone accent.
"Hi nanny" me
"Ah howya Malilk" back to her ballymun special
My Mam's accent varied from complete culshie to inner-city Dublin depending on who she was talking to
Not Mam, Nana, still does kinda. But we all have a phone voice to some degree depending on who we're talking to. You just might not have ever noticed it or had someone you're close to point it out
Halllooeuuu
My dad answers the phone like the giant phone guy from Trigger Happy TV.
It does be beyond mortifying
My friend had a chocolate ring doughnut voice - she'd put on a posh voice ordering doughnuts in 911 in UCD. I like to remind her of this annually, 20 years later.
Yeah, my mother really put it on alright. Not sure why - it was always a sister or neighbour calling anyway
"Air hair lair, 4291, speaking"
My dad when he picks up the phone: 'Hellloooo' in a weird trans-Atlantic accent, lol
Hullerw
This is exactly how my mam answered, then she'd smile into the mirror at herself while chatting.
My neighbour did. And the irony was she was rougher than a badgers arse.
You had a phone....
No, but my Mum is from Dublin and sounds like a culchie on the phone.
No
The Bouquet residence, the lady of the house speaking.
How did poor Richard ever stick it 🙈
Xanax, the odd can with Onslow and suppressed murderous thoughts.
I believe it's spelled" Bucket"
You want how much money Sheridan?
Its my sister Violet. She's the one with the Mercedes, swimming pool and room for a pony.
