Top 5 things that make BAP horrible in 22

RANT
  1. Conversations - Stupid goals, broken conversations, can't skip even if you want to, it REALLY slows down actually playing games or simming a few here and there.
  2. AI - This could have been #1 if I could just play or sim quickly without those conversations. Instead it'll be 2, 3 and 4 lol.
  3. AI - Defense refuses to have a brain when retrieving pucks in their own end. Won't go behind the net, won't make the obvious breakout pass, etc
  4. AI - ALWAYS forces passes to the BAP player, this has been an issue for years. It would be WAY more fun if they just let the play happen. And then when you are wide open by the net they shoot or pass to another player, it's insanity.
  5. Have to start as a superstar player, can't play in the minors like before and work your way up. Also can't get sent down to the minors. I've read here and there of people claiming you can but I have not verified. And if it is possible it's not an easy task, you'd have to do EVERYTHING wrong for multiple games. Not realistic at all.

There are plenty more issues, but for me the conversations and brain dead AI make BAP almost unplayable. I still play it because it's the only NHL game, but I am not having much fun.

5 is one of my most hated, edged out by 4. I can't count how many times I've been wheeling back post, wide open, when my A.I. teammate either shoots it into the goalies chest or throws to the other heavily covered forward. WTF.

If only the AI could play like real hockey, this game would be fun. The funny thing is I call for it all the time because I can't trust them, and then at some point they start ignoring my call for the pass and do something stupid instead LOL

Oh man, when I finally break and call for it they throw it and I get hit with the double A pass and put it in the corner lol

This makes me SO MAD! I play a franchise where my roommate locks center and I lock left wing, so defense is always AI and they're SO DUMB. They just HAND pucks to the other team.

It's like:

25% of the time they refuse to get the puck

25% of the time they get the puck and then circle back and get pinned

25% of the time they get the puck circle and make a bad pass

20% of the time they get the puck and try to carry the puck and then make a bad decision

5% of the time they make the correct play like a real NHL defensemen

And 5% might actually be generous :(

Don't forget, on a PK they'll try to clear the puck but actually lob it into the chest of the other team's star forward and he'll basically one-time it straight in. 😂😂

They make the mode worse, the more attention they pay to it.

I've always enjoyed starting in the minors, playing as a 16 year old and moving up is as close as possible to the real progression a player will experience and for them to remove that option means I will not play any further versions of this game.

The Ai defense makes me so frustrated. It’s insane that the players team ai does not match the difficulty of the CPU teams ai. If they can make superstar difficulty ai why can’t my teams ai match that? It’s not realistically difficult, it’s just pure frustration as my defense man instead of passing just skates to the front of our goal and gives a turnover.

I started playing less than 2 weeks ago and everything in this seems dead on, the AI is absolutely infuriating. And let’s take a moment to talk about the commentary, why do I need to hear about the ability I know I have selected twice every period?

for me, Be a Pro has never been something that I've gone into for the past few years. Instead I just play Franchise mode and then make my own player and adjust him how I'd like.

The only way I’d be interested in BAP again is if you’re able to play in the ECHL, overseas, stuff like that. A real world of hockey, not just NHL/AHL hockey

Also every character I have had an issue with getting a conversation then no options show up and can’t progress. 3 times so much work in all just for it to shit the bed

About #5. It was possible in NHL21, so it probably still is possible considering its a full copy and paste. I posted about it last year if you want to look at it on my page 👍
