Sonnet for the calling road
The road calls me, and I must answer promptly,
give my obeisance to the circumstance;
so in the time remaining, kiss me softly
and send me on my way to win my chance.
Don’t worry, I’ll be careful while I’m gone –
I’ll check my corners, and my heart be true –
and soon I’ll be returning with the dawn,
when fate returns my spirit back to you.
Take heart! Don’t cry, for while I’m gone you’ll know
the reasons that you keep my body close;
and I’ll think of you wheresoe’er I go.
You’ll be my medicine, a healing dose
to cure the wound left by our parted lips
and balm the lashes left by fortune’s whips.

I love the way this poem shifts from "grabbing my opportunity" then "consoling the partner", it has got good sequence.
This line is appealing.
