Switching up Poison Helix to Lightning Strike

So I league started as Poison Helix and was feeling pretty good about it, but now that I've hit red maps it feels sorta awkward, I've killed Exarch and Eater of worlds with it but I've tried a Baran Citadel map 3 times to no avail. I'm thinking it has to do with the awkwardness of helix as a skill, I just feel like I can't hit the bosses with it enough to stack any meaningful poison damage?

I've heard Poison Lightning Strike is a pretty good alternative but I have no idea how to transition from my current build besides the main 6L setup. Any help and advice would be appreciated :)
