Logano to Race Duel same as 500 "As soon as you get scared of crashing, you're never going to win."

Well, I hope teams got their backups ready
Considering Logano has not finished a plate race in like two years other than Talladega last fall. Yup, I feel for the lower end teams.
And he probably wouldn't have finished that one either had it not end up being a rain shortened race lol
Even I as a Penske fan can accept that :/
Turns out he did in fact finish the August Daytona race last year. But he was involved in those crashes at the end.
Ah I didn't remember that one, I do remember him hitting the wall after blowing a tire one lap before the 9 and the 21 wrecked and took the field with them, and just assumed he was out cause that was a pretty big lick, guess he just continued on with what he could lol
Denny cut his tire down and he brushed the all he wasn’t involved in any crash for that one
He used to be real good at them too. I used to pick him for the Daytona races because he was good there while Brad was good at Talladega. The moment I started picking him is the exact moment he started crashing out all the time. Whoops.
Hey, the crash at the last year's 500 was absolutely not Logano's fault. McDowell got a big run and happened to bump Keselowski at a bad angle. If Logano had about two or three more feet on them, he wouldn't have even gotten hit and would have won it without question.
There was plenty of room for Brad to miss Logano’s block, and Logano’s block was not enough to actually block him. Thus, had McDowell not have turned Keselowski, there wouldn’t have been a wreck. That was really no one’s fault.
I think the 500 was more Joey's fault. If you block, you're responsible for making sure you time it early enough.
But it was still a racing incident. I believe Harvick pointed out that part of the problem was McDowell had a broken spoiler, so he was pushing and coming with more acceleration than Logano expected.
Fans are exaggerating it into their usual "did a wreck occur within a mile of Ricky Stenhouse... must post 'wrecky spinhouse'" meme enthusiasm. Most superspeedway wrecks, Joey hasn't been involved, or was a victim.
So what youre saying is Logano kinda blocked (which he should have, its the Daytona 500) without putting the blame on him.
I might be mixing up the details in his head but I thought that crash was more of a racing deal than Logano throwing a bad block.
A good chunk of the teams (and not just the smaller teams either) didn’t bring a backup car with them to Daytona.
Its not like they are in LA. Its just a drive down 77 to 26 to 95 down to Daytona. They arent dumb not having a second car set up unless its a bare bones operation like MBM or Beard.
Yea but I believe most teams have the front and rear clips with them, which is mostly what will need to be replaced
It depends on the damage level. The hope is that you'll just have to change parts after damage and not bring in a full blown backup unless there's structural damage to the chassis or something like that.
The Ford's were definetly being the most aggressive manufacturer during practice. The Roush cars were trying to tandem a couple of minutes into FP1.
Penske were being aggressive with their tandem practice as well
Joey almost wrecked it with how much he was having Blaney shove him through the turns.
LOL I’m here from the future

This is why I love Joey. Bro's here to race.
You know I used to hate him but I am coming around, what is wrong with me.
Also I used to really like Truex and now I think hes one of the worst complainers of being raced too hard.
Nah everyone bitches about everyone on the radio. It's just popular to shit on Truex because of a few radioactive clips of him whining about lappers... Something everyone has done and continues to do.
Really hard to judge any of these guys based on limited interviews and radio bitchin during the heat of the moment. Like we expect everyone to be polite and respectful at race speeds.
Same. Takes balls especially after Talladega.
To quote Dale Jr. talking about plate racing and his levels of aggression: “It’s a race and I’m gonna race.”
And how many concussions did he get with that mindset? /s
Joey's ready to throw those aggressive blocks
But.... the cons of crashing in the Duels far outweigh the benefits of winning the Duels
But 10 points plus a Playoff point if he wins.
Don't think there's a playoff point. Just the 10 for winning.
But considering how close the Regular Season Championship was, points aren't worthless even if you win.
Yeah but for guys who can sneak in points, it could matter at the end of the year in a race for 16th spot.
I'm with you! Only wanted to clarify they don't give away a playoff point.
‘Whose Line is it Anyways?’ points but while they don’t matter, you still have to pay the bills for the crashed cars.
I agree here. It’s fun to watch for sure, but logically racing aggressive in the field if you only have one car just isn’t smart
Say what you want about Joey, even I'm not a fan of him. But man, does he make superspeedway racing fun to watch. Gotta give the guy credit for racing his heart out. Sport needs him.
He’s grown on me. He’s here to race and that’s it. Gotta respect it
Gonna start using this in my iracing league when I cause a crash
That’s a badass quote
Joey Bobby on track.
Devils Advocate: As soon as you run out of backup cars, you’re also never going to win
I love Joey's attitude, leave it all on the race track. What happens, happens.
Joey is my title pick this year.
No attack no chance
Tbh if he goes balls to the wall hard he’s gonna know a lot about what to expect in a green flag run.
Quotes that precede unfortunate events
Edit: HAHAHAHAHAHA
Lmao sometimes life comes at you fast
Joey going big brain trying to get ride of some competition at Fontana
Being afraid of crashing is also how you cause a crash, in some situations.
sigh Unfortunately this aged well
Kinda funny now lol
It's a pretty interesting predicament. You race hard you learn a lot with the new car. You don't race hard you enter the 500 knowing very little about how the new car will race.
"As soon as you get scared of crashing, you're never going to win."
-Joey Logano.
At last, a modern contemporary to Senna's "go for a gap" quote.
if gap, car
If no gap, rattle cage.
-Dale Sr.
if no gap, still car
-Pastor Maldonado
Car?
-Rick Ware Racing, 2020
If scared, lose
I'm pretty sure that Senna quote was taken out of context.
By every Iberian on iRacing? Absolutely.
It’s always them isn’t it LMAO I got taken out by one last night
No. It's just confirmation bias with a touch of xenophobia.
Everyone is as likely to do a stupid move, no matter where they're from.
The context was he was trying to justify taking Prost out at Suzuka iirc.
Close! He was justifying why he chose to attack in an odd place on the track but he didn’t take out Prost. Prost rammed into him long before the corner. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/695830722342027335/930161050505060382/video0.mov
Technically that's the context of the conversation but the general quote is more about why he had so many crashes in 88, 89, 90, 91, etc. And his response was the quote. In the full context of the conversation the quote makes more sense. Saying it was just his jusfication for ramming Prost off is reductive
It has made me scared whenever I see Brazilian flags when racing online.
It literally crosses all platforms.
Honestly oval racing anyone who isn't from the US or canada i give plenty of space and am extra careful. Too many people in other countries just see a few clips of bump n runs, then jump in a oval race and just play bumper cars.
“Americans like to bump!”
My favorite is when you cut below the line to make a pass and they flip out about it.
When I first got into iracing, a race at phoenix. At the time, turn 3&4 (now 1&2) I went way down on the apron to pass, and dude lost his mind about it. And it was for like 10th place to.
I’m glad I’m not the only one to think of Sennas quote.
IMO
It's better than Senna's, as it's hard to take out of context.
That's the same dude that wet himself over the softest roll over I've seen in NASCAR.
