People are overthinking it hard, top 7 pick

I'm still not totally sold on his overall offensive game, I think he is a little too dependent on working from the post on the baseline and if he can't get there then he struggles to get his shot

One of the things about him now is he's bigger than a lot of 4's so he can overpower them and get to his hook shot and with 5's he can use his quickness and technique to get around them and finish with crafty layups

With bigger, stronger, and faster defenders in the NBA I think it's going to only be harder for him to consistently work those matchups in the post and I'm not sure what his role would be otherwise since he mainly gets his points from there and around the rim

I see him as a sort of Marcus Morris type and I think he'll be a solid player for a while, I have him 9th right now but what his offense looks like in the NBA is a little confounding to me right now

That's the thing with this draft though, you're a lot more skeptical about Keegan and still have him ninth. It's not long before you're like goddamn am I really going to take Dyson Daniels or Kendall Brown over this god-tier college player? His absolute floor is probably 12 if Shaedon Sharpe stays at Kentucky

Oh I agree, once you get to 7 there's quite a few guys you could start making arguments for and once you get to like 15 I just throw my hands up and go you might as well start throwing darts at a board because I have no clue about anyone past this point

I have Chet, Jabari, Ivey, Paolo, Davis, and Griffin as my top 6 and then currently have Mathurin and TyTy ahead of Keegan but there's so many question marks really early on even in the mid lottery

It'll be interesting to see if things shake up more come the end of the tournament and heading into workouts but it seems like a huge toss up at this point after the first few guys are off the board

If he goes 12th that is a massive, massive mistake by about 4 or 5 teams.

It would be dependent on guys like TyTy Washington, Ben Mathurin, Jalen Duren really, really balling out down the stretch here and some teams deciding that what Ochai Agbaji does is more translatable and Tari Eason has more upside. Probably all of those things aren’t going to happen at once.

Marcus Morris is a great comp best I’ve seen for him.

That is funny because he is also a twin.

Eh I don't like that comparison. He's too skilled inside compared to a Morris. Reminds me of a lankier Boris Diaw. Kind of unorthodox buttery moves down low, but just a really, really good all around basketball player. To me, Murray is now the clear cut best player in this draft outside of the obvious top 3 guys.

Boris was a legit playmaker/ball handler/initiator tho idk if Murray has this skill set

I’m actually encouraged by how much face up game he has. I think his offensive game will translate pretty well to the nba. He has a quite a few ways of scoring in my view. Face up, low post, mid post, grab n go transition, trailing 3. He has a little more than just straight line drives. Gets to the line.

I also think he’s a decent athlete with good size. These are the starting PF in the nba right now nba depth Looking at this list, I’d say he’d be entirely fine athletically against 19/30 with a chance to be better than that.

Ultimately, we might fall in a similar spot, and I only push back to increase dialogue, not to have a “gotcha” moment. I think a Marcus Morris career is entirely probable for him. I could also see him being more than that.

Even in this clip where he scored 28 points. Every single one of his drives and post ups ended up being a very difficult shot and more often than not in a worse position than he was initially.

I don't see how his offensive game will translate at all, he can't even get by college players he will be virtually useless in the paint at NBA level when those difficult shots he hits will become impossible.

He can catch and shoot well, but that isn't enough with his other issues to be a top 7 pick.

Isn't living off of tough shots kind of Johnny Davis' whole thing though? At a perhaps generous 6'5"?

Better NBA spacing and being paired with a PG who can make him more of a finisher/Catch and shoot PF should alleviate those issues.

He’s due for another incremental leap as he’s nowhere near his ceiling. Are we watching the same clips? He’s scoring at will in every was imaginable while being double and triple teamed which won’t happen in the NBA where the spacing is greater and the pace is faster. He’s outstanding in transition and can handle the ball well. NBA defenses are weak so his game should continue to develop. Go back and watch his performance all season long. Not many players as efficient. Johnny Davis and Jaden Ivey are both great also. Holmgrem is drafted for height but doesn’t use it effectively. Pablo and the kid from Auburn are both top 4. Zuzang will be drafted too low and play far above. Mathurin is boom or bust. Liddell should be a stud.

It's really ironic that people replied to this overthinking him lol

I’m really starting to talk myself into a lot of the guys in the 5-12 range of this draft. I know this draft is seen as bad and it’s definitely a clusterfuck once you get outside of the lottery, but I think there is a lot of talent at the top.

zeus_molecules•

He is definitely a lotto pick. Probably a top 10 pick too.

I sense the spirit of Tim Duncan when I watch that clip. Nothing flashy just kills you w fundamentals and a really nice stroke as well. Just sayin

My biggest thing with Keegan is the amount he was able to improve from year 1 to year 2. That means he is not done getting better. He is a highly efficient offensive player that has a typical NBA player build for his position. Usually guys that make big leaps between their freshman and sophomore years have a lot of untapped potential. Someone like Tyrese Haliburton comes to mind.

I think this guy could have Julius Randle All-NBA season upside. He also has a perfect skillset to operate with the increased spacing of the NBA. I Just can't get over how smooth he is overall, making tough shots look pretty effortless.

I think once you get past the top 5 picks your generally looking for good starters not all stars. I could see him being a really good 4th, 3rd might be too generous, on a good team.
