I have Aspergers. I don’t care if people call it that or not. It’s just a funny word that got me bullied in middle school. It’s better than just saying ‘autism’ because people hear that and assume I am not high functioning.

Which was likely the point, removing a division.

I like how they list their labels as some kind of credentials to give them credibility. A neurodivergent, queer, disabled jew, huh? What on earth does this have to do with the topic and why tf is this in a Star trek shitposting group?

BenderRodriguez9OP•

Right? That stood out to me too. Also my money is on her not even being queer (because actual LGBT people just say gay/bi, etc) and her disability just being something self-diagnosed and invisible.

My jewish, queer, indigenous demidog headmate really took exception to this.

Somehow, I think the "but a known Nazi made it and that hurts your fee-fees" is still preferable to "no difference in treatment for anything on the spectrum; the high-functioning autistic person who would be diagnosed with Asperger's and would be able to live a basically normal life, just being a little quirky, needs to be treated the exact same way as the super-low functioning non-verbal autistic person who will be a giant baby for their entire life."

A diagnosis of ASD doesn't mean they'll treat every patient the same.

Not always, but often enough to cause problems 10 years later when you're applying for college.

And consider how much more important this was in Nazi Germany, where the mentally disabled got sent to the gas chambers.

Tl:dr; "You said a word I don't like, so you're a nazi"

These moron's legit have no idea how close they are to actual fascist thinking.

"You must speak how I tell you to speak"

Close? They are way more than close.

"Star Trek Shitposting" is the exact sort of group where I'd expect someone to chimp out because someone else didn't know the biography of some obscure 20th century psychiatrist.

Of course the term aspergers is an oppressive eugenicist nazi term. Its enforced on us self diagnosed queer autists by cis heteronormative patriarchal hegemonic authoritarian imperial colonialists as a way to dehumxnize us. The only way for this to end is for us to be recognized for what we are an oppressed marginalized people who need special laws to protect us and prevent bigots from committing genocide against us. A good way to do this would be to lock anyone up who the neurodivergent community feels threatened by. However since police are a part of a system designed to murder queer autists for exsisting we cannot rely on them to get the job done. So it will fall to ourselves to silence dissent through a series of proactive and preemptive self defense measures against those we deem a threat. After all we have a right to activley defend ourselves from nazis especially before they have a chance to even consider acting against us.

I'm autistic and I don't like the term aspergers. It really just means high functioning autistic.

But why do other autistics (queer autistics, specifically) have to be so self righteous about it?

They are the same people who condone the usage of the word "pansexuality" when it was created by people who included animals and prepubescent children in their sexuality. They are also the ones who support queer theory (another pedophilic inclusive thing).

They are hypocritical at best.

Also I dislike the term "ND community". Whenever someone says that they usually mean "community for social justice warriors who make up issues that don't exist when it comes to queer autistics and then complain about it to anybody who will listen."

The only thing that connects us all is that we have a mental disability that makes us function differently. Put me in a room with 10 other autistics and unless they are interested in books, living things, and languages we will have nothing to talk about. And I won't wanna talk to them either.

Jakedex_xflairkin•

As a person with asperger autism I usely say that I have autism, because asperger is not important to me. And I hate the term ND community too, because neurodivergent means you have autism, adhd or dyslexia (yeah let's compare people who have problems with understanding texts and people with autism). I agree that this person has self diagnosed themself as neurodivergent, because anyone can be diagnosed with adhd or can just walk to the right doc to get diagnosed , just think about the South Park episode. Even was diagnosed with adhd in the past and it took years before I got the right help and support. This is why I hate the term neurodivergent. Honestly I think this people just make this community up to use people from this "community" as a shield against critics and to be "on the right side of history".

Genetic fallacy if you aren't trying to say that that automatically means pansexuality means actively having sex with prepubescent children and animals

It kind of is a Nazi term though. Hans Asperger named the disorder and it was used to differentiate the children who could still be "useful" to Nazi Germany from the rest of the mentally disabled who were to be culled as part of the final solution. For a long time after it was used to differentiate the "closest to normal" autistics from the rest. While partially discarded due to it's Nazi heritage, the term was mostly discarded as understanding of the condition further improved and neuro-science advanced.

1
WalbrechtBayern•

Don’t know why you are being downvoted. “Asperger’s” has been rolled into “autism spectrum disorder” for those reasons. Both because Hans Asperger had a large number of his patients Aktion T4’d and because it was decided that having 50 diagnoses for grades of one condition was too much.

Gato1486self-diagnosed dead•

Alas. I feel a lot of people don't like to admit that large chunk of the history of ASD research was pioneered by the Nazi party. The same as the advancements in medical knowledge/treatment of injuries that came from Unit 731. We can acknowledge both the disgusting, depraved "researchers" for what they were and the information they produced. Information, by itself is never "evil". The people who obtained it and the methods they did so by certainly can be.
