Sometimes reason is a burden.

How difficult life must be for you.

Hahaha, someone seriously posted that? That quote shows up practically verbatim on circlejerk.

Yep r/atheism, always getting offended on the behalf of other groups.

I'm offended by your username. SIR Brotus? Why not LADY Brotus?

Such a sexist. Ugh.

I'm quite surprised, though, that that quote offended the OP, considering reddit's feelings of sexual inadequacy, hostility towards women and general misogyny. You'd think most redditors would jump at the chance of having a subservient non-friendzoning-bitch woman...

you and OP might like r/shitredditsays*. It's something between r/circlejerk and r/circlebroke for sexism, racism, etc. It's a great place to vent about shit like this in between bouts of more meaningful discussion with such redditors.

I know about SRS, but I'm not at that point, yet. I know a lot of redditors say a lot of stupid shit, but I'm willing to put it down to them being immature teenagers than actually being misogynists. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely convinced there are a lot of adults that have those feelings too, it's just that, while I recognize it as being ridiculous, I don't really approve of SRS either. To me, an outsider, they just seem both sides of the same coin.

Plus, I'm either not an approved submitter there, or I've been banned from posting. I can't even comment on submissions...

That's fair. I like to think I'm more optimistic than a lot of SRSers, and I do spend probably too much time trying to reason with the people who post ridiculous things. But sometimes it's nice to have SRS there too. Keep in mind that comments in SRS are generally in character and may be more extreme than what the posters actually believe. If you ever do want to post there, message the mods - they do reverse bans. But I also respect the position that SRS is counterproductive. Cheers.

It was like a contest to see who could pretend to be the most offended and politically correct.

One dude even went so far as to refer to what I'm assuming was his girlfriend with the gender neutral term friend.

R/atheism is just a collective of white knighting beta males who try to establish dominance over people they wouldn't have the gall to say a single word to about their beliefs IRL via Facebook, but even then, these forays into combative expression are deleted right after posting.
