If

Poem

If I was the sea

I’d rush up the shore to greet you

With ocean spray kisses

And the love only saltwater can bring.

Id embrace you

In fresh invigorating waves

And leave you gifts;

Little seaglass treasures

Amongst other things.

and, If I was the wind

I’d shake the trees all around you

So they’d dance

In celebration as you rode past.

I’d move the skies and clouds

So the weather would match

Your wants and your needs,

And blow gently against your back,

To help you reach your hopes and dreams.

If I was the earth

I’d make the lands your garden;

Flowers would bloom

where you had walked

As if to simply commemorate your existence.

I’d create soft sphagnum carpets,

So that you’d be able to walk barefoot

wherever you choose.

Because, nothing would be too much for you.

And If I was the sun,

I would gently warm your days

So you could sit outside

And bask in my rays.

And before it was time for me to leave at night

I’d paint the skies in oranges, purples and reds for you.

A parting gift, to say “goodnight, I’ll see you soon”

For you, Libertas All my love C x
