Brunette Ave Bridge

Where it crosses the highway, headed west, it seriously needs lane lines repainted and needs the electronic traffic sign board removed. Something about that stretch right now makes folks who aren't familiar with it think that the right lane ends or something. I've been cut off when driving in the left lane at least 3 or 4 times in the last month.

Who is the person to notify about this?

I agree, that area is an accident waiting to happen. I still don't know what that board is saying, I'm always too busy making sure no one hits me while they're suddenly changing lanes

Boy, good question. It was probably built by the Province, so it might still be Ministry or is one of the ones given over to Translink.

The part you are talking about is certainly in Coquitlam though.

I guess complain in the City app (See Click Fix)? Then a New West functionary will mark it as closed and hopefully kick it to the right place.

If I really had to bet, it's Ministry since it has to be an alternate highway, so in that case probably maintained by MainRoad, especially for the spans over the highway. Looks like they have a 24 hour hotline, 604-271-0337 that covers the lower mainland.

It might be owned by TransLink, as it’s part of the Major Road Network. Probably part TransLink and partly the DOT.

That whole area is a disaster. There's that pothole on the opposite side still hasn't been fixed. Also the numerous drivers that turn left from Braid onto Brunette from the farthest left lane that then go into the right lane immediately (no signals usually and often while going through the intersection) to get into the highway merge lane need to be roundhouse kicked. A cop could sit there and make quota in 2 hours.

I almost hit that sign a few weeks ago. The lines were so faded, I thought I was in the correct lane but then I saw the sign coming up in front of me. I missed it because I was paying attention, but there are drivers here who would easily hit it.

I read once that it was going to be replaced when the highway was redone. I agree, it’s a horrible interchange.

Are you talking about the merge lane from the highway offramp that ends on the bridge next to Braid Station? But yes, that whole area’s traffic design sucks.

Every time I go through there as a passenger, I cringe because almost every driver drifts into the left lane there. The area is in Coquitlam, so it may be worthwhile reporting here: https://bc-coquitlam.civicplus.com/FormCenter/Customer-Feedback-12/Customer-Feedback-72

It does need some repainting, yeah. Some of the lines are pretty bad at the moment.

It doesn't matter who you complain to, it won't get painted until the summer. At least, assuming whoever's responsible can get paint, I'm told it's seriously backlogged after the Texas Freeze last year.

Highway infrastructure is Ministry of Transport, including the ramps. Brunette itself may be partially covered by New West and Coquitlam, but any changes with signage/markings that would effect the ramps requires MOTI approval.

Has there been any updates ? That sign needs to go before something serious happens. At night when it's raining that bridge is the gauntlet of death.

It is the responsbility of MOTI and the contract holder to maintain it is Mainroad. they have a 24 hour "hotline": 604-271-0337

Brunette overpass is gonna be decommissioned as the plan is too use Blue Mountain as a new crossing but not anytime soon!Last proposal was probably 2017.

Half of the overpass is ministry operated (on the Coquitlam side), who does the New West side of the overpass I'm unsure of, probably the city of New Westminster.

There are practically no line markings anymore, when I drive over I just try to be over to the right and away from the potholes and signage.
