South Of Here
A population of thirty thousand
Unpaved road and adobe houses
Smoke dances around the backyard
The clay oven devours wooden ships
Scorching sailors burn and jump to white sea
Their screams crackle in the wind
God bubbles over in laughter as he watches from above
Laughs until he spills all over his black and charred frame
The sounds of his voice a fragrant aroma
lips impatient for its taste
Windows open unto grandma's rose garden
Afternoon air smells of rain in the distance
Soon wisps of cotton candy will hunt the warmth away
Weeping tears crash against the aluminum ceiling
Each drop lulls me home
