The poem is short, crisp and always relevant. Hearts refers to emotions, empathy, love and care. And that they are short in supply and perhaps need to be cherished. As they do not multiply or grow like earthworms. I just paraphrased it and also ruined they beauty but it didn't seem fair to write a single line review ahahaha. I really liked it!

Short and bittersweet, with a solid ABCB rhyme.

One thing that slightly dents my appreciation of this little poem: it seems to be based on [the myth that if you split a worm in two, it becomes two earthworms.](https://www.livescience.com/38371-two-worms-worm-cut-in-half.html) This is an old wives' tale. In reality, while an earthworm can often survive losing a portion of its body - and may even regenerate the missing part - it's still just one worm. The cut off part will die.

A heart not being able to regenerate its broken/missing part would work instead, so the worm analogy still has potential; but you can't really use the word 'multiply', so the rhyme would have to change.

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. I absolutely love how it gets to the point. Nice and quick. With tons of meaning to it.

I really like the simplicity of your language. It's similar to the style I prefer to write in.

I do think there might be more to say here, but maybe you just left me wanting more which isn't bad thing.

Beautiful like a diamond. Small in size, but every facet of it shows a dazzling light.

I love the simplicity of this poem. That it's so short makes me feel like you put thought into every word and the placement of every syllable. And obviously, very true words.

simple and quick to it, love the flow, well done

hearts are precious things
that are in short supply.
they're not like earthworms
they don’t break and multiply.
