need help finding food donation sites

Question/Recommendation

Recently moved and realized I have a lot of canned food items - beans, soup etc that I was collecting for no reason, and need to find a good reputable food pantry or donation site to drop them off.

Recommendations?

The Raleigh branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina is on Capital Blvd. I’m sure they will be happy to take your donation!

I was on their website a little while ago and under give food they just list organizing food drive and food system donations. So wasn't sure if I can go to their Capital Blvd location and just drop it off.

Raleigh branch has drop-off bins where you can drop off donations any time of day, or you can go when they're open and donate at the garage doors on the Capital Blvd side of the building.

I volunteer at the Durham branch each week and we have people drop off individual donations all the time. I assume (I know, dangerous to assume lol) that you can absolutely stop in with a donation in Raleigh as well. I’m happy to confirm for you on Tuesday when I’m at the Durham branch though and message you then.

That'll be very kind of you, and worst case scenario I drive up to Durham to drop it off, it'll still be better than it sitting in my pantry!

I am 99.99% confident they will happily take it but I will confirm for you Tuesday. That’s not a problem at all!

usually they have stayed days / times you can drop off or stayed collection sites. at least lost smaller pantries do. check their Facebook page. alternately, you can see if anyone in your neighborhood is collecting to donate. usually someone is.
