Will Emancipation be a player for the next award season?

So Apple and Will Smith won big last night, and they have big "runaway slave turned civil war soldier" movie set to be released this year. Do you think the fall out of Will's actions negative or will it all be forgiven by that point?

Other potential contenders that AppleTV+ has set to release this year include Tetris, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Cha Cha Real Smooth, so they don't have to put all their eggs in the Emancipation basket. Admittedly neither Antoine Fuqua or Bill Collage inspire much confidence in Oscar hopes based off their spotty track records but I bet Apple still plans to push it.

It’s not going to happen. Apple will focus entirely on Flower Moon with Cha Cha on the side, kind of like what they did initially for Macbeth and CODA.

It wasn't going to be regardless, like you said, Fuqua likely doesn't have a good movie in him anymore, and Apple has multiple stronger contenders.

Apple's main focus: Killers of the Flower Moon for obvious reasons

Apple's secondary players: Cha Cha Real Smooth, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, some yet to be picked up film at a film festival

Also in the conversation: Napoleon, Luck for animated feature

It probably would've just been a Globe/SAG thing at most but after the incident+him now being a winner, there's probably no rush to give him afterglow recognition.

Tetris most likely won't be an Oscar contender, at least lol.
