67,000mi. and still rides like a dream. Sadly my new job was much further away and the commute was killing the battery. I'm going to miss this little car.

And for the curious, I went with a '22 Niro EV. It's very nice, but not quite as "fun" as the Leaf. Also their sub-reddit is not nearly as cool as this one.

I just made the same switch three weeks ago. I had a 2014 LEAF SV (with QC and premium packages) for eight years. It had 71k miles and 10 bars left when I sold it to Carvana. Now I’m leasing a 22 Niro EV EX Premium. The LEAF was amazing that whole time. In all that time it needed lots of tires (due to my lead foot), some wipers, a few cabin air filters and one front set of brake pads only. I will truly miss my LEAF. 😥

Congrats on the niro. My current lease is up in October and I'm strongly considering that as my next. What part of the world are you in? Were you able to score a deal? Or no deals

I'm in Southwest Ohio, and EV adoption is kind of slow around here. Because of this, there really isn't a huge selection available, and getting new car dealerships to sell you an EV is practically like pulling teeth. So unfortunately, no deals there.

I think I did get a deal on my Leaf though. A year ago in January I bought my 2016 in Columbus for $9k, and today sold it to a local dealer for $10k. They will probably be able to tack on a couple thousand and easily resell it in a month or two.

Looking at the competition on Autotrader, I think my old Leaf will probably fair quite well in this market.

I didn’t think you would have gotten a deal but kudos to you for making a thousand bucks for driving for a year lol

I always wondered who the previous owner of my car was.

What was the battery health?

My 2016 S-30 started out at 11 bars and an 82.78% SoH. For the first three months of ownership, I only had a 20 mi. commute. The SoH dropped to about 82.3%. I thought, "Sweet! 2% per year! Not bad!"

But then I got a better job offer and my commute jumped to over 50 mi. per day. It wasn't even 8 months later that I lost a bar. After owning it for 14 months and 16,000 mi, it had dropped to 78.0%. I did the math, and it didn't look good.

Winning a new 40KWh pack was an unlikely long shot. It was more likely that a few years later, the battery would no longer be under warranty, and I would run the risk of getting stranded on the way home during the winter.

In the end, I loved my Leaf, but knew it would be better to let it go to a new home with a less demanding routine. (I also wanted longer range and CCS.)

We bought our 2015 SV in 2018 for $10,700 when it had 29.5k miles and 12 bars. Now, in 2022, we’re at about 58k miles and just dropped to 9 bars a few weeks ago. It’s been essentially a problem-free car for us (when its limitations are understood), but we’re debating selling it. I got an offer last week from Driveway (online car buying service like Shift/Vroom/Carvana/etc.) for nearly $10,300, which is truly just nutty.

OP, I hope you enjoy your new car. I’m sure whoever gets your Leaf will be thrilled. They really are great lil cars.
