Photogrammetry Patreons or similar

Hey guys,

Is there anyone out there doing photogrammetry learning/experiemental content along with sources above a basic level? Basically, someone mentoring in the space with projects, along with theory discussion and access to their working files.

Full disclosure: Maybe you've seen me around giving advice, so I'm thinking of making one. I'm trying to gauge interest, as well as meet fellow geeks in the space.

Let me know your thoughts and what you'd like from a Patreon focused primarily on Photogrammetry, with a slight sprinkling of VFX.

Cheers, Scan Lee

I have been contemplating doing something like this, my content is generally high level and single topic.

I have 5 videos in the works (which includes a two part, 30+ minute coded marker video) but the major hindrance has been getting money from making this content, and I don't feel like I should immediately jump to a pateron as I only have two videos on my channel.

So I guess for me its chicken and the egg, cannot do one without the other?

I'm sucking it up though and getting it done. and hope that with two or three videos I can start a pateron to help funding as it is expensive. especially with software costs. the video I am producing currently has cost me in the area of $400, excluding the time. not to mention the other 4 which will all have their own expenses!

Do you have anything like a portfolio link to your work? You mentioned 2 videos. Can you link those? What gear do you use, and what studio do you work for using photogrammetry?

I have pretty extensive and unique pedigree workwise, so I feel comfortable charging as I build my library.

Ian Hubert is using it increasingly in his stuff, and has delved into his workflow and the issues he's found a fair bit recently on his patreon. It's very much as a tool in the vefx pipeline not the focus of the patreon though.

I use drone photogrammetry for scientific purposes but I really want to learn how to create virtual landscapes using VFX as a hobby. I'd definitely pay for a course on that topic.

Creative shrimp has a full photogrammetry course with a discord server acting as support for the students and it's actually amazing. Very nice to communicate with them

There is also another discord run by myself and several others which has been around since 2017, very active with lots of industry folk

A patreon for photogrammetry sounds like a good idea!
I'd support it!

I found this a little while ago, btw - there is a lot of content here.

If your patreon maybe would expand on a lot of concepts and ideas and be a lot more detailed, it would be fantastic!

Could it also be an idea to explore experimental uses of photogrammetry, maybe?
I don't have any ideas on what this might be, but the patreon could also be used as a melting pot for different ideas, too, I imagine.
