First time I'm sharing my poetry with anyone
Goodnight mom, I say as I fall asleep.
Just to dream the strangest dream of all.
I awoke to find I didn't know my face.
I looked in the mirror to see a strange man
His breath was weak and he looked so weary
His skin was worn like an ancient parchment
Strands of hair as dull as a winters day
Yet his smile was friendly with a twinkle in his eye.
His face so familiar but I can't seem to place it
I run to find my mother and tell her what I'd seen.
To tell her I dreamt last night that I was old
I looked for my mother but she was gone.
I stood in the corridor and looked down at my crooked hands.
I dreamt just last night that I was a child.
