Darkness

Poem

It is my worst enemy,

Yet it gives me something,

A mind filled with envy,

A Soul hollow and empty,

It's been empty for a long while,

Since I was a a small child,

that use too dream about everything,

I now hear echoes of anger,

thoughts that if uttered a loud,

Would make me look like a fool,

Isolated on a midnight cloud,

Lost in its deep shroud,

Weak and powerless I can do nothing,

Feared and lethal it can do everything,

Trapped in this abyss,

with hope fading,

It keeps me away from its opposite,

Buries me down in the depths,

Waiting for its sinister harvest,

It is my worst enemy,

it is my darkness.

This is me in description. I have no words to expression how well this has been penned down.

The present-past-present form was something that caught my eye. It's very well scripted that doesn't let the readers attention wander even a little.

Nicely written.

This line really spoke to me - "Weak and powerless I can do nothing,
Feared and lethal it can do everything". It makes me think of how darkness, depression and fear can make you feel so small and hopeless, it creates a spiral that just feeds itself down deeper and deeper. You captured that train of thought perfectly.

i like how you are a bit possessive with darkness, like how its something that has always been a part of you and has you in its reins. the latter end of the poem to me feels as if its always dragging you down no matter how much you try to creep back up, but that "it" is nothing but another part of you only. imagine the same individual's soul splitting into two and in a constant battle for dominance. Overall i think its a spectacular poem that encapsulates every aspect of our despair however there could be some improvement in the rhyme scheme

Thank you, yes your observation is spot on as for the rhyme scheme yeah I'm new to poetry writing, format and grammar are my weaknesses. I appreciate your Critique.

Damn this poem is so vivid I can picture every part of it in my mind. Love the tone and style. Very relatable too! Especially liked this line- it seems powerful and hits close to home for me ‘Trapped in this abyss, with hope fading’. Every line flows to the next, it’s brilliant! Great job!
