yellow

Poem

You tell a joke and humor me.

A musical note for this villainy

The evening's Fading light is no longer bright,

And you are no longer by my side.

Peaches, apples, pomegranates.

Beaches, chapels, how romantic.

My happiness came and went the minute you said "hello"

And, ever since then, I see in pastel yellow.

These sunset tinted glasses are beautifully structured.

I can see the youth in my wonderful mother.

But they are also Pathological in their romance.

In my mind, this love never stood a chance.

I can see sunflowers break through the canon's crust.

Sprinkles entangled in nature's dry dust.

And there's a molten warmth, like breeze in mid July.

As a comical shade of yellow dances across the sky.

I limped across the Irish sea with a guppy in my company.

And I felt free. I felt free.

I made it to a village, it's name I cannot pronounce.

And in my liberated spirit I had a confession to announce.

I am a man tragically tangled up in poetry.

Just as a bee is to their only sting.

I am creative and I am mellow.

Drunk on the excitement I have found in yellow.

Butter croissants and hand-made poetry.

Such a nice way to dodge the death of me.

Experiencing daffodils'fist few moments of earth

Akin to the magical act of witnessing a birth.

Mother, mother, father, father.

I am maniacally lost in wonder.

But I am grateful to be alive.

With a splash of yellow in my eyes

Both the yellow and daffodil references caught my eye, as that's something I like to write about too... And the mention of a Guppy? Reading this made me feel as if I know you, because of how familiar this all is to me. Thank you for making my night :D

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.
