Both are handguns, but there's no debate to be had on the nomenclature;"Pistols are handguns with one or more stationary chambers. Revolvers are handguns that use multiple rotating chambers."
You are absolutely correct, but it does seem silly for the game to make the same distiction. Either let it count or change the task to "handguns".
It is a handgun though, the term y'all are thinking of us self loading pistol (and even then things blur the line like that revolver with the magazine and triangular caseless ammo or the Webley fosbury)
Yes, but the task says "pistol." So the revolver isnt counting according to OP, because revolvers are not pistols. But both pistols and revolvers are handguns, so they should change the task to 3 pmc kills with a handgun, so both pistols and revokvers count.
Just seems weird it makes the difference.
It might be because revolvers are a different class of weapon. Revolver skills are seperate from pistol skills in game.
I'm positive it's unintended and will be fixed. They clearly hard code quests and always forget new items. You could do the Woods quest to kill scavs without body armor while wearing an MMAC when it was new. You could do the Tarkov shooter quest that requires iron sights with a new mount and razor scope for a bit too. This isn't about handgun/pistol/revolver semantics, it's purely about the gun being new.
I don't disagree, except there might be plans to have equivalent tasks specific to revolvers, they don't want to rusk "breaking" the extant tasks until they've tested the the revolvers thoroughly or changing the task is a more involved process that we might think and lack of time prevented including them, one must always be wary of false dilemmas when coming to conclusions.
Intelligence is knowing a revolver is not a pistol.
Wisdom is letting revolvers go into the pistol case regardless.
BSG is not wise.
I wasn't aware of this, regardless I never claimed BSG was imbued with wisdom, I am well aware they are lacking in that department.
True. It's pretty clear that there's a bunch of stuff that just keys off of "pistol" tags on weapons, which until today wasn't an issue.
We all know they always forget to update the quests with new guns. Stop boot sucking.
We know they often don't include them, "we" have no insight as to why, although it might well be oversight. My statement was correct regardless. Stop being a petulant little ass .
Honestly, my insight is its probably a database thing.
They probably have a table somewhere of item classification types that is used to associate the item type flags for the quest completion and when they add new items they don't properly set that attribute in some field somewhere.
It happens with armors and guns all the time so my theory is its just some weird field that is in an obscure table that they forget to set when creating the appropriate database entries for items. This has happened to me many, many times albeit in a completely unrelated field (automotive). I troubleshoot an issue for like 30 minutes before realizing that a vehicle never got properly set as a car/truck in one of our obscure tables somewhere and I have to manually insert it to get shit to work right.
More than likely you're right and it's been belatedly brought to my attention that the revolvers don't fit in pistol cases, reinforcing your take, as I doubt BSG is anal to the point of considering the foam padding incompatible,.
I'm just not a fan of assumptions or bias, particularly when it's petty or unactionable, not to mention that many posts are fueled by ignorance seemingly based on the perception that IT or systems design is some kind of magic and that if one is righteous it can be set right through willpower alone.
I'd say 75% of what I read is some type of informal fallacy and when it's pointed out the retort is usually piling on a few more.
its because its a revolver and not a pistol.
That's the dumbest thing ever
Of course it doesn't because there's no way in hell the devs or their QA test anything before it gets put into this game.
The new item didn't get the [PISTOL] flag, it's a simple omission, calm down. It also doesn't go into pistol cases.
