I think people need to appreciate that we are going to be playing on the ruins of the Titans from XB1 and 2, meaning I would expect familiar music (with flute overtones), familiar places, etc.

Like, I do not think there will be much new, except to the extent that it's new due to the destruction of the land in the time period between 3 and the other games.

Personally, I am super excited. You basically get a massive open world composed of all the locations you love, but spread out over a massive, XBX-style map to wander around in...

It's going to be amazing to see places like Sword Valley yet again, but this time through an entirely new lense.

If there's an area in the game where we climb up an almost entirely vertical version of Sword Valley, this might be game of the year by default.

My favourite elements of a sequel is taking familiar elements and playing with them. Stuff like playing through the final Test Chamber from Portal in Portal 2 backwards is fucking amazing, so doing something similar with Xenoblade will be amazing.

I get the feeling that we'll be crawling up some portion of Sword Valley this time around, given how it's no longer just laying flat like in Xenoblade 1. It'll be interesting to see if the factories still remain on the thing, and how much it's changed in the years following it.

The best thing ever is if they climb Sword Valley to the point where there's the Metal Face final encounter. Just a quick comment where they wonder what happened there would give me so much life.

A part of me believes there's still a lot of baiting going on. There's probably going to be another major location that Noah and the lads have to travel to afterwards. Still, getting high up on that sword would be one hell of a moment.

Imagine if they end up climbing right to the Monado Wound, to the site of the very first playable fight in the entire series.

Holy shit I must have played through Portal 2 at least a dozen times and never noticed until you mentionned it

You're welcome. I give other fun pieces of information on command, like how Luigi said fuck in Mario Golf!

Really though, that test chamber flew over my head for a long time too, it's a really nice detail.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I worry too much that this isn’t going to be diverse enough. I legitimately love Xenoblade’s unique settings and worlds and how vast as well that they are. (Also music in the areas.) So I’m afraid of it not being different or changed enough.

I bet Monolith Soft has some tricks up their sleeves... Imagine a dense forest when you find the ruins of some buildings which look oddly similar to Colony 6...

If you are a fan of the series, this will be an awesome detail. But a newcomer will just see some ruins in a forest. I bet the location would be amazing in each case, but it will have added meaning for fans of the game.

That's what excites me. Not that the locations will be all retreads (no, not going to happen), but that they will all have foundations in the previous games. What if you found a lake in a beautiful location and in the middle of it was a piece of ruined bridge and you see that you are on the Bionis Leg.

I do not want to just wander over the same terrain. But I am excited to see where the old locations I loved ended up. It's huge fan service for me to get another chance in those worlds. I would love to explore many different games in the future (starting with the ending to FFVII from when I was a kid, which shows the future of Midgar), but it never happens. JRPGs rarely get direct sequels. Or if they do, they are not great or too similar.

Here, we have the best current JRPG company making a direct sequel to two of it's games which combines their world... This is amazing.

I think they will feel wildly different. for example, the fallen arm, which was a tropical sunny beach location, is now a desert with autumn leaves.

In the words of Spongebob Squarepants: "HOW LONG WAS I GONE!"

Morag_Ladair:morag:•

Level 33 seems very early for this type of area.

34
AcceptableFile4529•

Maybe Uraya's interior is earlier than we thought?

27
Morag_Ladair:morag:•

When I showed this to my friend, they suggested it’s us getting towards the sword quite early, but we have to accomplish another goal first to get in, or events at the sword drastically change our goals, akin to prison island

45
AcceptableFile4529•

That could be the thing. The Mechonis Sword could probably be a main turning point, instead of the final area like we thought. Would be interesting if that were the case.

Wheal19•

From what we have seen in the frist trailer the sword might not actually be that close to Uraya so it might still be a bit off from this point.

ThePBrit:melia:•

Everyone's saying how Uraya could be earlier, and I'm not discounting that, but it could also just be dev footage, taking a neat monster and area and setting the levels to be about the same as the rest of the trailer (as the party is between 25-35 for the whole trailer)

Savings_Profit4198•

Maybe it is a Botw like world where you can go anywhere you want, or uraya is not a end-game area

SavingMegalixirs•

I'm just thinking of a scenario where Guernica looks at and comments on Vandham's grave.

Ok so Fonsa Myma in ruin ... I will have problem to not be sad when playing XC3 knowing that maybe everything we know in XC2 is gone or destroy :/

18
AcceptableFile4529•

Wouldn't this make this the first look at the interior of Uraya? Seeing as Fonsa Myma was originally apart of it?

Don't forget the spoiler tag!

This is gonna be some Scenery Gorn.

Veroxious•

It's gonna be so wild going back to these "coffee with milk"-ed locations in 3 like a damn museum school trip.

8
Silverdetermination:jin:•

Wait is that Capital of Uraya (don't mind my spelling I don't remember how to spell it)

7
s_holds•

Uraya

Silverdetermination:jin:•

Thank you

s_holds•

No worries, it took me a while to learn too. Just remember two A's :)

3
MilkToastKing•

I thought this was a possibility but somehow I didn't think they'd actually do it. This is really sick

7
Frazzle64•

Ok now might be a good time for me to go into quarantine from Xenoblade this is huge

5

I mean, we saw dead Uraya in the trailer. It would make sense if we explore it

D_44•

After revisiting Gormott in the past in Torna, I can't wait to see more familiar places in a different time. It's something that can be hard to pull off while staying fresh, but I have faith in Monolith Soft...
