Box of Echoes
Once there was a boy He sang the songs of joy, Happiness flowed from his being Like a fresh water spring.
One day he decided; He wanted to be liked by All, Soon a darkness precided So began this boy's fall.
A dichotomy took control, His soul was split. There was one half that said The required. The other half wanted to say The feelings.
A war waged within, The flame fought to live The 'wiser' half took control. The innocent half hid. But the wiser half Knew that he didn't suffice; Without these feelings, The flame within would die.
He traded his voice That was deep and pure, For a box of echoes, That was shallow and insecure. Just full of well crafted lies, Borrowed words of wisdom, That were trivia in disguise.
He sang his songs, That were empty, with no joy. Doesn't know where he belongs, Now he was a lost boy.
I wish to tell him; All will never like you, You're all that you can be, So throw the box of echoes And you'll be free.
