Can we talk about how EPIC “Double Babysitter” and “Christmas Swim” are??

Discussion

I caught the middle of “Double Babysitter” and I couldn’t understand why Bluey and Bingo were questioning Rad and Frisky. I presumed they (Rad and Frisky) were a couple and some of their questions (and answers) got awkward! My own questions were answered when I saw the full episode.

I am a romantic at heart. I love Love. 💙

So then I was watching- I mean my kid was watching, “Christmas Swim” and Frisky said, “I’m new to the family, too”

They got married!

This show is epic.

Thanks for reading 🥰🤘🏼

It is unclear if they're married and on their honeymoon, or just in a relationship.

There's no doubt in my mind that the Heelers didn't "forget" that they double booked the babysitters.

I love “Double Babysitter” and after seeing it so many times I 100% believe Chilli and Bandit did it on purpose.

I’ve commented on this before but in my seemingly endless watching of the show, background characters facial expressions are key in showing their real emotions. Chili is famous for this with eye rolls and glances constantly.

For example, in Library when Muffin isn’t playing “properly”, the kids come in and complain and Chili gives Stripe a look like….” I know you’re just being lazy here and I’ll let it slide but I know what’s really going on.” Or in Fancy Restaurant when Bandit says his name is Romeo McFlourish Bandit and Chili have a full on conversation with their eyes.

In Double Babysitter you would think that there would be SOME sort of indication that she had done something, a glance to bandit, or a look to Frisky but there isn’t. Also, there’s no way she could have anticipated that Bluey and Bingo would want them both to babysit which is the only way the plan works.

I want it to be true, and maybe in the wedding episode slated for Season 3 we will get the truth but for now it seems like one of those happy cosmic accidents.

I watch this show too much…..

Chilli wasnt at all suprised when frisky turned up at the door tho. She also knew bluey was reticent about baby sitter put downs and I suspect she (bluey) has spent a bit more time with her fairy godmother than her batchelor, oil rig working uncle, so having frisky there as well made it a better idea, without making radley feel unwanted, or stopping the girls having that extra time with him.

Oh yes, I’m aware of all that, but I believe they are pretending like it was an accident LOL

I also believe they know their kids well enough and they believed the kids would want them both to stay since they don’t see them both that often ..

I also watch this show too much 😂

I’m with you. I think it was an accident.

Those Heelers do be schemin

They aren’t married yet!!! There are hints that a wedding may be in S3B -

There's no doubt in my mind that Chili definitely planned it... and Bandit thinks it's really cool that his two brothers just happen to be married to Chili's friends.

What's the (in universe) time gap between those two episodes?

Aussie_Mo_Bro•

More than a day

Maybe dogs don’t take years to court, meet the parents, live together, get engaged, plan the wedding, have the wedding, then do the honeymoon?

I'm pretty sure I've seen that the episodes on Disney plus are not in the same order they actually air in. And there are missing episodes from Disney plus. Iirc there's 2 or 3 episodes between Double Babysitter and Christmas Swim.

I assumed they were just dating

“Where do you work?”

“On an oil rig”

“Is that why you’re not married?”

“Oh! Maybe yeah…”

The level of “self awareness” in this show is astounding to me.

Like in Dance mode when Bandit “buys” the last dance mode and Chili says “that’s not good parenting”

Christmas Swim, and Double babysitter are in my top 5 favorite episodes. If not for camping and grandad they’d be higher lol. But Uncle Rad is one of my favorite characters, Frisky as well. Well tbh I love bluey in general. I love every single episode

It took me a long time to realize Frisky is Bluey's godmother. (Bingo calls her Bluey's fairy godmother)

But I like to think they are married and are going to have new little cousins for Bluey and Bingo!

I don't "believe" (can't be certain) that they're married yet...bc as someone else noted there are hints of a possible upcoming wedding. I kind of hope they're not bc that would be a fun episode!

I hope everyone has got the chance to check out Frisky's voice actor Claudia O'Doherty in Killing It (on Stan in Aus and Peacock in US). Very surreal to hear Frisky's voice say "Hello f*ckers"

She’s also Mary Bonnet in Our Flag Means Death.

As someone who got divorced these episodes hit hard. Especially the not knowing if you’ll find true love but to keep trying. Geez I’m just trying to have a cup of tea not reflect on my mindset

I totally watched those two episodes today as well and thought the exact same!!! I loooove how they meet and then the next episode they’re together. It’s so cute 🥲

MylesTheFox99•

I absolutely adored seeing Rad and Frisky married in the next episode! I’m glad someone else feels that way!

3
bananasplz•

I don't think they're married.

4
MylesTheFox99•

In the episode, Frisky tells Bartlbee (and by extention Bluey) that she recently became a part of the Heeler family, so I think it’s implied.

4
gahgahbook•

Nah you don’t have to be married to be part of the family.

10
Nomsfud•

It's a kids show. The implication is they got married. This isn't one of the messages that has multiple meanings, they worded it that way for kids to interpret that they got married

2
mulhollanddriveway•

They’re getting married in Season 3.

3
racketmaster•

I hope they are not married but do hope they get married and we get an episode out of it.

3
pursued_by_bearmuffin•

I was confused about the relationship progression too, but after MANY re-watches I'm guessing they ARE married and we just didn't see it (Chili says it's 'Uncle Rad and Aunt Frisky' to beckon Bluey to the video chat in 'Christmas Swim').

3
TheRealEleanor•

We call all of our close family friends Aunt and Uncle but I gather that that is more of a Southern US thing since it doesn’t seem to be common practice? I also thought it was common to call godparents by the Aunt/Uncle terms?

I thought the big giveaway that they were in a serious committed relationship though was the fact that they were on holiday together at Christmas.

5
TheTwinSet02•

Definitely an Australian thing too, we would call our neighbours Aunty and Uncle!

Also being in a de facto relationship is very normal, at least in my Brisbane world

1
Aviexoxo•

I don’t think it matters if they’re married yet or not. They are together, and that’s all they need. Some people can think they’re married, where other can think they’re just dating. Either way, they’re together and happy and frisky absolutely is part of the family now

2
Linwechan•

I loved Double babysitter until it came out more clearly the order of the Heeler boys being Rad, Bandit and Stripe, especially in Fairytale. So if Frisky, who feels early 20s, is with Rad who’s older than Bandit, there seems to be a rather large age gap.

Not that there’s anything bad about age gap relationships but I always pictured Rad younger than his real age…

1
ganymede42•

Rad seemed younger too until we saw their birth order, so I don't think Frisky is in her 20s. If she's Blueys godmother I think a safer assumption is she's a long time friend/college/work friend of Chilli's - we can assume Chilli and Bandit have been married at least 8+ years so why would Chili be such good friends with someone so much younger? I think Frisky is probably late 30s and Chili/Bandit are early 40s and Rad is 45

Foyt20•

And remember... Dog years.

Unsure if this has been mentioned already, but it’s Rad and Frisky, not Red 😂

Where do you see “Red”?

1

.. when I read the OP without glasses on.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

This is awkward.

They aren’t married yet. At least, it’s likely that they aren’t. I know it seems that way, though - Frisky being “new” to the family doesn’t necessarily mean they and their partner got married.

mulhollanddriveway•

No, it’s not awkward. Easy mistake to make. What’s awkward is how you can often be quite condescending on this sub.

6
gahgahbook•

Yep, totally agree.
