Melissa Wood Health

Anybody here know/met her in real life? Is she as sweet as she seems to be? Been watching her stories for years and she seems to be so genuine and a breath of fresh air. Of course I could be way off lol

She lives right around the corner from me. She’s as kind hearted and genuine as they come. Thank god Bc it seems to be that every influencer lately is way different in person than they present themselves to be online. She’s really kind! From my personal experience :)

That’s so refreshing and nice to hear. She seems like sunshine and her family is so cute.

i don’t love her unhealthy relationship that she seems to have with food and how she seems to project that onto her daughter who is probably no older then 4?

i can’t watch her stories anymore for this very reason.

Hot_Diamond1853•

Agree there was a story about a month ago where the little girl was sucking in her stomach and said something "like mom". That made me sad, she is just a little girl.

I have been following her workouts for almost 2 years now and I’m in awe of how happy and content she comes across. But lately I’ve had my doubts, how can it be real that she looks the way she does without restricting her food? How can she look like this by just doing her workouts and meditating? Sure she must have good genetics but she preaches love yourself no matter what, no restrictions, let go of that body focused mentality, yet she looks like goddam angel. I swear she has the best body I’ve ever seen on someone her age.

I think she looks emaciated. Her breakfast of blueberries in almond milk is depressing

I feel so sad for that little girl

I just don’t know why she is obsessed with lymphatic drainage. Girlie there’s nothing to drain!!!!

18
pippinplum•

she is definitely nice but for sure still struggles with eating issues etc, obsessed with being skinny skinny. As is her best friend Mona Vand and they're both 5 lbs.

20
unicornpuppy11•

it’s so good for your circulation, immune system, detoxing toxins aside just depuffing swelling. everyone can benefit from lymphatic drainage!

4

Those claims aren’t really supported by peer reviewed scientific research. Your kidney is doing the detoxing for you!

8
unicornpuppy11•

That is simply not true. Research. Also tell that to the people who it has helped like my mother who has hyperthyroidism. Lymphatic drainage has changed her life. Tell it to her doctor who recommended it too. Obviously your kidneys and liver detox (duh!!!!!) but having a healthy lymphatic system is very important and does in fact eliminate cellular waste. If you don’t know all that your lymph system is responsible for then let me tell you, a sluggish lymph will cause you a host of issues. I’m a certified Health & Nutrition Coach and have spent many in depth hours on this topic so I will advocate for proper understanding on it. People have been draining their lymph since the Ming Dynasty and it has been proven to have incredible benefits. However, you can be mad that trendy rich influencer people are monopolizing on it because yeah, that is validly annoying.

6

Though I’m happy it helped your mom, anecdotal evidence doesnt rival the fact that the overall medical/scientific community finds no evidence to support the substantial claims made about it. It might have some minor short term benefits, or feel nice, or there might be some placebo. And at the end of the day, people can do it if it helps them or makes them feel good. But I think some claims are a stretch and influencers profiting off of it doesn’t help!

I feel like she has such a kind soul, but I don’t get why she’s friends with Danielle Bernstein?

16
LegSea7006•

Danielle gave her business so much exposure. I think it’s a “smart” friendship

13
Thrwawy_467•

I think Danielle is an investor in the business

3

Think her husband may have invested in one of Danielle’s companies - we wore what? Not sure though. *Melissa’s husband

leezybelle•

can we talk about Melissa's husband for a second or is that mean? like I just... sigh.. I don't see their relationship as anything but $$$$

14
No-Arm-9554•

thought it was only me. lol

Met her and she was even more warm and loving in person. She is exactly how she portrays herself

13
livethatlife18•

SHE IS AMAZING!!!!! I met her in NYC earlier this year. She is pure sunshine. Her workouts have legit changed my life.

9
mef224•

There was some controversy about her during covid - but her husband is super loaded and owns a lot of business and restaurants (tao, lavo, etc)

Here is an article that goes a little into controversy https://social-post.com/call-outs/melissa-wood-not-as-transparent-as-you-think/

I have questions about her marriage but feel like I'm being mean.. I just, eh.. they don't seem like they match? Feels like she saw dollar signs? Security?

9
jennydancingaway•

I can see that

Has anyone’s body changed from her workouts? They seem so low-impact; I’m confused how they could actually make a real change, but would love to know of personal experiences. They seem designed for women who are already super thin.

8
pippinplum•

correct assessment!

5
pippinplum•

she's also not certified to teach

8

I’m pretty thin naturally / fast metabolism. Her workouts have gotten me the most toned I’ve ever been in my life - but I think a large part of it is due to genetics and how my body is built. Pilates just works best for me/ feels the best

3
wineandyoga•

I’ve done them and like them, but feel like you’re right, for anyone who isn’t super thin, it won’t so much to change your shape. They feel nice and help my muscles feel nice and stretched out so I’m still a subscriber, but it’s definitely not my primary workout, it’s my rest day light movement.

3
fakebbq•

I really liked Melissa and started doing her workouts in March 2020, but I started to feel like seeing someone who is naturally thin and eats somewhat restrictively was making me feel bad about myself, unfollowed in late 2020 and stopped paying for her app. I recently followed again and am paying for the app and doing the workouts. But sometimes her stories and all the traveling, lymphatic drainage, etc just makes her feel like someone I can’t relate to

7
Old_Tie_2806•

Ugh I love Melissa and her workouts. Have never heard anything bad about her

6

What about her friend Tina Marie Clarke?!

5
leezybelle•

And her husband who is like 400 years older than her

4
AngelProgress•

Her husband gives me the creeps big time.

3
Hot_Diamond1853•

Her husband makes his money by bankrupting people. But yes girl go off with shift stirrer bs. That marriage is total convience

5

Omg can you elaborate

Her manager is Britney Spears old manager so take with what what you will. I commented free britney on many of her posts and she deletes them Everytime

4

Ran into her on streets of NYC and asked for a selfie lol. She was super nice and asked me a bunch of questions!

3
atansf•

I enjoy her workouts for the most part, and she seems like a nice person. However, I’ve noticed that as she’s gained popularity she’s become less humble and more preachy. She seems very aware of her large audience, and has taken on the role of guru instead of teacher. I also think she still has disordered eating. Apart from avocado, it seems she never eats fat, including olive oil. The “real” pasta she has once every three years doesn’t equal intuitive eating. I don’t think anyone should be following her eating habits.

3
mulberry1323•

This. Had to unfollow her. It was incredibly triggering. Also the guru thing…it’s odd. I feel awkward. I’m not coming to you for life advice or guidance, I’m here to workout.

1
amusebouche88•

Seen both sides. Turns it on but can also turn it off real quick. Suppose that makes her human. But also her “I feel so grounded” one minute to “I really need this before I lose it” seems too exaggerated on both ends.

2
JMCL150•

She seems like a very nice human being however, I really am not a fan of her workouts. They have done nothing for me in terms of gaining strength and toning. It almost feels like snake oil to me. I also second what everyone mentioned above about the dietary habits and how they can come off as harmful.

2

That’s interesting bc I’ve gotten the most insane abs + muscle in my legs and arms from her workouts. I’m naturally lean / thin, so that could be why. But I’ve consistently been doing her workouts and love how low impact they are. I’m in the best shape of my life. But Pilates isn’t for everyone !!

1
mulberry1323•

I think this is the non-inclusive secret sauce. It’s not inclusive, it primarily benefits genetically lean and thin individuals.

Stopped watching her about a year ago after she threw a massive party in the height of the pandemic. Her MWH method (referring to food) was alarming. Gives off massive ED vibes.

When your whole life is supported and funded via wealth, I'm sure most of us would be breezy and light too.

2
All-the-love-•

I actually don’t think she’s that easy breezy in real life… I think that’s an instagram front. She’s even said she’s very moody and feels overwhelmed a lot.

2
Master-Mood1816•

I never met her and I'm only following her for a few months. My opinion is that she seems nice and genuine but she is also very priviliged. She has very good genes and restricts the foods she eats as well. I recently wanted to unfollow her many times bc she makes me feel bad about myself. Like if I would have te opportunity to live her life, no stress, money etc. maybe I would be that radiant too!
