Partial black screen and mouse not working.
So I just upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 (on my Oracle virtual machine) and 3/4 of the screen is black and the mouse doesn't work on the main desktop (Where the wallpaper is- I don't know what it is called). I can click on the taskbar on the left or the power off button on the top right and when I select the "show application icon" on the bottom left the whole screen works fine and none of it is blacked out.
I don't use Ubuntu at all other than 1 app that is only available for Linux. I searched the web but couldn't find anyone with a similar problem. I appreciate any help I can get.

Simply log out and in again to temporarily fix the issue. May be related to VirtualBox auto-resize. GDM is not auto-resized on boot, but once you log out it is.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. logging out and in again fixed it. I'm defending my thesis next month and all my simulations were on the virtual machine, I thought I lost them and had to take another semester for that. I really appreciate you taking the time and helping me.
I had both ubuntu 20.01 and 21.01 and both of them worked fine on the Virtual machine.
To make gdm change resolution on boot (and hopefully fix this issue all together).
run the following commands
I had this problem with a Debian VM, hope this helps!
