Pros:Just outside town so very low load times, No cold immunes, narrow hallways that act as chokepoints for Blizzard, fairly static map layout, high unique density
Cons: Those pesky beetles.

Sounds great! Is this one of the areas that got the pits treatment in the 2.4 patch?
Yep. Ancient tunnels was the pit equivalent for cold characters pre 2.4. After 2.4 dropped there's arachnid lair, Stony Tomb and swampy pit now. Some people would prefer arachnid lair because it's just near the waypoint, but somehow I find it takes me a longer time to clear the area.
Swampy pit being right next to a waypoint is really convenient also when you want to switch things up.
Those dolls can fuck right off. Act 3 outside of meph and trav can fuck right off really.
I don’t mind the dolls with ranged. With everyone melee I concur.
It's nice area but I find it a bit hassle to find. Firstly if you only do Stony tomb runs then each time you need to walk quite a bit to the exit of town and then finding the area itself also feels a bit random. There is no clear pattern. Or am I missing some shortcuts here?

That's a valid point. There is no discernable pattern I think. I just tele around the edges in a clockwise direction to find it. Maybe Arachnid lair is the best in terms of that.

And then? Half of the time entrance is on the left side.
Upvote for stony tomb - grand charms, um+, good xp, easiest blizz sorc zone by FAR. the only cold immune is the embalmed boss occasionally, everything else usually melts at +6 skills.
It is now my favorite fire sorc area to farm. Just wish it was a bit bigger
As a fellow blizz sorc I agree. Arachnid Lair is insane as well tho. Right next to wp, layout is static or at least feels static in the sense that the sparkling chest is always in the same spot.
Just took your advice and found and Ohm rune on my second run. I know that is just insanely lucky but it feels awesome!
Nah u just get like one cold immune monster sometimes at the end loc. Merc can get em anyways but then beetles forsure are bullshit. Love the spot too! It's a great area. Lvl 85
Yeah, just a note that bosses can be still be cold immune. Even in ancient tunnels.
The difference is that stony tomb always has at least 1 cold immune. In AT it happens, but it’s never guaranteed.
i am so glad i found this spot and post… the xp is awesome. and on players 7 in 1 hour i got mal and ist lol offline play so uber stoked
Ruined temple, Kurst bazzar real small lots of elites, best drops iv had so far only lvl 25 or so.

This place is awesome. I played PD2 so im already super familiar with farming this zone as this was my primary zone. So pumped about the added lvl85 zones
I love this zone, looks and feels fun and nice mob density. I farm it as Hydra and works great for that spec too!
thats weird, fire immunes dont spawn there, i think u encounter cold immune mobs
You do encounter cold immune bosses occasionally but that happens even in AT.
Beetles are a pro because they give good XP.
Right? Squishy and they feel good to murder.
I think they are bugged to give extra xp though, but I’m not sure how it works. Speed runners look for elite Beatles to help them level super quickly

It's not a bug, it's just that they have a higher XP bounty as a trade off because their Lightning enchantment can be quite dangerous if you have no means to mitigate it. When I start a Sorc or Druid, I always farm Beetleburst to 19 so I can use Leaf.
