how much money is there at the start of the game?
I saw that the only way money enters vicky 2 is by gold. So how much money is in the world at the start? Also when events take your money is that money destroyed?

This thread has once again proven that I don’t understand anything about this game’s economic system
Treasuries goes brr anyway
nobody really does
I have been wondering a similar question as to whether I could force the entire world into bankruptcy if my economy is large enough and I horde as much money as possible.
Hoarding enough money can absolutely disrupt the global economy. You can manipulate both money hoarding and stockpiling to disrupt trade so much that every price crashes and most nations fall in a socialist-anarcholiberal rebellion loop.
Gold is not the only way money enters the global reserve, taxes are a direct source of variable income, along with various events [such as the farmers bank] that give you cash.
Money is a finite supply and gold is the only way to "print" more money into the world economy. Is this not true?
Yeah, precious goods and precious metals. Money also “dissappears” when pops put their money into savings. They are supposed to use it, but the ai kind of sucks so often times the money is effectively gone. A similar thing happens at national level where ai countries save up tons of money, also effectively removing it from the game, if they aren’t forced into using it.
Well yeah but that wouldn’t affect the money at game start
Oh no, I know, I was just adding some info about the flow of money to the discussion :)
I'm almost certain that gold is not the only way money appears. The Vic 2 economic system is incredibly flawed with spheres creating resources out of thin air, i would not be surprised if money was similar
I don't know the answer but this question makes me hope paradox hires a few economists to the vic3 dev team. Sorta like how EVE online has economists to manage their in-game economy
They did. By the way, i don't remember his name, but one of the guys in the monthly updates is an economist
Lol great job he did
Based
That's how money is made and events destroy it, but they don't have much of an impact. The main thing that actually destroy money is factories with no owners, but you have way more money produced than is destroyed. It just doesn't circulate because of low state spending compared to taxes + demand from capitalist and gold farmers isn't high enough.
New to the game?
I‘m not new but I consoder this an interesting question
For the first, you don't need Gold for having a good economy, and the economy situation is decided in which country are you playing, or it can be randomly regulated by AI [Edited] daaaaaamn boy why u guys so mad with that

The monetary system in VIC II is all messed up for a bunch of reasons.
unlimited in 3 of my vanilla games i controlled over 50% of all gold production so i was very rich
No idea. Would you just have to tag switch every nation and add it up?
Hmm maybe it'd be in the code somewhere? I'm too stupid to find it.
I’m fairly certain interest isn’t paid to any pop, so it’s essentially destroyed from my understanding.
Damn that could make the world lack a lot of money
