How should you make Googly Eyes in Unreal?

Solved

Hi, I hope all of you are doing okay.

So I have a model/character (character might be a stretch) that I've made that I want to add/create googly eyes for à la TABS (Totally Accurate Battle Simulator). After doing some googling, I managed to find this post from Unreal Engine/Epic called "Intro to Googly Eyes - Generating Oddly Oscillating Globe Lenses".

The Question

From what I understand, the tutorial is based on the plug-in called "Control Rig", which seems pretty reliable & easy (knock on wood) to implement. What I'm wondering if using the "Control Rig" is the only method of doing it since "Control Rig" seems to be in Beta & can apparently be "removed at any time".

I have been looking for a possible Blueprint alternative but haven't really found anything reliable with the exception of the "Intro to Googly Eyes - Generating Oddly Oscillating Globe Lenses" tutorial.

Does someone have any ideas or should I stick to the Googly Eyes example?

Just stick with the Googly Eyes example.

If ever - highly doubt that - the plugin will become unavailable for some reason, than you could recreate everything in blueprints. It's not that complicated, you would just have to create all that math yourself.

What they do in the example - as I understand it - they just add some form of a delay+dampen to eyes. You can do this in blueprints using physics or better just calculating it yourself. You store the position of the eye some frames behind and move the pupil there. Also checking the difference of eye position and current pupil position and if it's larger than what you want - you add the difference on top. When it's almost there, you force it in place, so that the pupil would not jitter too much.
