can someone help me to wrap my head around about the 'timeloop' concept or whatever it was in the happy death day movie franchise?

SpoilerQuestion

idk if this is the right sub to ask, but i wanna try. alr so quick recap, so the protagonist namely 'tree' is reliving the day over and over again to find the identity of the killer in the first movie, but in the sequel, it's seemingly she slipped into parallel version of herself wherein she's also stuck in timeloop ig? and she wants to comeback to the original timeline. but here's the problem, everytime she dies, did she just resetting the day? just like the same way in the 2014 movie 'edge of tomorrow.' everytime she relives the day, does she actually resetting the day? or is she really stuck in time loop? or everytime she dies, she's just simply shifting to the parallel version of herself? but if that's the case, isnt it bad idea t to kill somebody's version of yourself just to relive the day again. so to sum this all up, is she actually resetting the day everytime she dies, or when she dies she's shifting to the parallel reality? and the ppl in prior reality are aware that she killed herself? is that the case or not?

She's resetting at a specific time not specifically when she dies. She's locked in a time loop between two fixed points until she can break out.

ohhh fair point, so does that mean she's actually stuck in timeloop, and she aint shifting in parallel realities? because it seeingly implies that she's shifting realities everytime she dies in the sequel

The machine is different in the sequel.

If i remember she time loops at the beginning but when they try to fix it she shifts dimensions

wait, as far as i remember, this so-called sisy thingy created by ryan, he opens it to shift back the second ryan, but inadvertently shifts tree to a parallel dimension. but here's the question, when tree shifted, everytime she dies, does she only reset the day? or she simply shifts to her parallel version? meaning the other tree dies in that reality.

It was never explained so either could be true.
