Brandenburg's Fixed Secondaries

Info

This graphic illustrates the fire angles of Brandenburg's secondaries, with her 150mm guns in red and her 105mm guns in blue. Prior to this patch, the fire angles on her frontmost 105mm guns had asymmetrical firing arcs, with the starboard side gun being able to fire approximately 20º off the ship's stern. However, it's matching gun on the port side could only fire 30º off the ship's stern. This is demonstrated in the graphic by the big red arrows.

I reported this bug about Brandenburg's secondaries back in March and it's been corrected. The port side gun has been buffed to match the starboard side one, gaining about 10º worth of firing arc. Ie: The top half of this graphic is now the correct one for both sides.

Oh, the benefits are negligible. I mean, really. Let's look at the breakdown. This only applies if:

  • You're in secondary range.
  • The target is behind you and to your left.
  • They are more than 20º off your stern but less than 30º.
  • Your secondary manages to hit the target ship.
  • The hits land somewhere that can cause damage / start a fire.

Like, seriously, we're talking minimal gains here. I'd be shocked if it amounted to even 10 more average damage overall. It's more of a "hey, this is weird and it doesn't have to be".

Is there any documentation I can see on Ohio’s secondary angles? I’m always surprised how bad they are at firing ahead but I can’t figure out where they start to fire

10º off the bow or stern for most of them, 20º to pull in the last straggler.

Thanks! Is there a place to find that info myself in the future?

Paying GameModels3D.com for access to all ships, datamining and/or spending time in training rooms blasting at target dummies.

shiptool.st usually have angles of maximum potential of secondaries listed, but not in as clear way as LWM do.

Nice. I have lots of fun in my brandenburg when it’s not a t10 match.
