Looking for some fully-english Gundam games to play

Video Games

What PSP/PS2 and older Gundam games would you recommend that are fully in English? Most lists have games that are semi-patched in English or ones where people say "it's in Japanese but you can figure it out" but those post isn't for that. I'm looking for anything, even as far back as SNES, but hopefully PSP or PS2, as long as it has decently fun combat-oriented gameplay. No turn based stuff please. I'd even be willing to look at Armored Core or similar type games if it's in English and the combat is good. Thanks in advance guys!

The armored core series is great and action combat oriented.

Armored core 2, another age, armored core 3, silent line, 9 breaker and thr last raven were ps2 games that all had us releases, as well as a few ports to the psp. Armored core 4, for answer, V and verdict day (pretty much pure multiplayer) were ps3 games also us releases.

Daemon X Machina for switch and pc is a more anime version (not knocking the game just more actiony kinda zone of enders vibe) but seems really fun it has one (or more unsure) of the designers from the Armored core series involved.

Interesting, thanks for the suggestions! Will definitely check those out! Do you have a favorite among the PS2 releases?

Personally Armored Core 2 was my first so it has a big place jn my favorites but 3 or the expanded versions of 3 like the silent line are my favorites due to the addition of EO torsos. Exceed Orbit torsos are awesome (go with the energy versions technically unlimited ammo with a long reload time) if you're going to rabbit hole down these games start with 2 and follow the games chronological, not for story although there is a little story linkage it's very minor, but for mechanic progression. New weapon types, part types, modifications etc etc.

Encounters in Space was probably my favorite back in the day. Lots of UC main story plus lots of side stories and some original stuff. Gameplay is combinations of rail shooter and open area space combat.

You should also check out Zone of the Enders too. Not Gundam, but fun action mech/space sci-fi duology of games from Hideo Kojima. Originals on ps2, remastered bundle on ps3, and re-released remaster (separately packaged) for ps4.

I heard mixed reviews of Encounters' combat system, does it still hold up? And that's dope I didn't know Kojima did a mech game, I'll definitely check that out!

🤔 I thought it was fine, personally... But better for you to just watch some gameplay and decide for yourself.

Also, on Zone of the Enders, I was mistaken. They only re-remastered the 2nd game for ps4, so if you're interested in the first (and I do recommend it) you'll have to track down an original ps2 copy or ps3 remastered.

I'm super broke so I emulate just about everything I play lol. Hopefully saving up for a PS4 or a graphics card once my daughter starts pre-k and I don't have to pay for day care anymore though!

Gundam vs zeta Gundam, federation vs zeon, encounters in space, zeonic front, journey to jaburo all come to mind

Which of those has the most fun/fluid combat to you?

Probably gundam vs zeta Gundam, or federation vs zeon which are basically the same game engine (Gundam vs zeta Gundam came after federation vs zeon so it has more MS)

Seconding the PS2 Vs games. Those were gold. Loved it when Soldiers of Sorrow would come on, made picking off Z'Goks that much more satisfying.

Battle Assault 1 & 2 on PS1 are excellent fighting games that both got fully translated releases in the USA. There’s also a Wing one on SNES that’s one of the better ones on the system itself although it never was released here. Beyond that idk if we got anything else in full English until the PS2 era.

Oh yeah Endless Duel the Wing SNES game is super fun. The AI is brutal though lol. And thanks ill check out Battle Assault!

"Gundam 0079: The War For Earth" was released for PC and PSX in North America in 1996 and it's something else. What that something else is I'll let you be the judge.
